Even draft picks. Even if you're 'retooling' cause you won't rebuild, you should have a few decent picks (top 2 rounds). We've got three 4th rounders that are prayers at best.

After next year when I'm sure we'll let Beauvillier walk, our haul for Horvat will be Raty - who is already proving to be the bust Lou knew he was ... and a portion of what got us Hronek - who I will be fair to and say jury is out but I'd rather have the pick.

They kind of did that with Miller already. The current cap problem is much theirs as it is Benning's. Miller and Boeser combined is after the fact on the past contracts so they already set themselves up for major headaches. Being over the cap is on them. Dumping Boeser would have leveled the cap. Instead they painted themselves into a 6.65m corner. The fact that they or his agent cant find a trade partner looks terrible. Big investment in a player no one in the league wants without a big sweetener. Miller will be the next OEL... they will get more out of him but 8M down the road is a disaster...
