I really don't understand the big attraction to Danielson. He looks a step down on so many other prospects that should be available. Maybe they think he's Scandinavian with that last name of his.

Every time we are told they are interested in Danielson, I think maybe they are strongly considering trading down.

If 2 dmen go in the top 10, there will be a couple better C available than Danielson. If 2 dmen dont go in the top 10, then a highly ranked right shot dmen will be available.... second best obviously. I only see him an option in a trade down.

Lots say they see Gavrikov in him. Gavrikov is not a top pairing D. 4 years to be a good #4 D. That's something you generally looking for mid to later in the first round in most drafts.

If he doesn't develop into a top notch offensive defensemen I'm still good with what we need on the back end: speed, mobility, meannesss, size and defensive prowess. Whoever we take, it needs to be a d-man with size and mobility.

What do you think the Canucks would pay now to have Gavrikov or someone equivalent?

I understand their interest. I have researched him a lot as it’s obvious a center is a high priority for them. He has a higher ceiling than Horvat did when he was drafted. Better production and certainly a better skater. He also played on an abysmal team which surely hurt his production. His linemates have absolutely no finish. Another plus is he works hard in his own zone and he has a large frame but clearly has plenty of growing to do.
