This management team seems to do what is needed. Salary Cap not going up can’t trade players without big sweeteners buy out the biggest contract. Same with the draft pick. If it doesn’t yield a player they can use, soon; but can get one by trading it, they’ll pounce. |

I remember talking to Vantel about the buyout being the best option forward, and people jumping on it that it would never happen yadda yadda.
It's a good feeling this morning with the anchor off the books Thanks Benning |

What's really sad is that this was all preventable, had they not made the decision to keep Miller at 8x8 and especially Boeser at 6.65x4, buying out OEL would not have been needed. Sure, they have 7.1 mil this year to spend on trying to get a 3C and maybe improve the D since Rathbone can slot into the bottom pair on the left side and be fine and OEL was a slug anyways.
The problem is that they are still between a rock and a hard place, Petey needs a new deal and is going to want minimum 10.5 and likely a lot more than that for 8 years. They better make the playoffs or I don't see this management group getting the rope Benning did seeing as they're already on their 2nd coach and their promises are probably sounding hollower and hollower to FA right about now after making him shell out 20 mil to someone who'll never play in Vancouver again for 8 years on top of the money he's shelling out still to Green and BB and Benning while they sit at home doing nothing. |

I think the thing is: Benning left them in absolute poop. They had no cap space, no picks, no prospects, no team and no real chance at the playoffs. We are 10 years away from the playoffs. But this buyout might speed up our rebu… err retool on the fly.
But it’s all on Benning. Until they clean it up. |

Pretty sure OEL trade was green lighted by ownership as was the hiring of the fired guys being paid. It’s on them and they know new management is trying to clean up that mess. Plus trying to meet the make the playoffs mandate by ownership.

If only the Bruins got the trade. Damn JB throwing in a first instead of getting one. There was even excitement over Garland who got a huge payday. Omg what a horrible outcome!

We need the blog about Logan Stanley RFA who wants to be traded getting dealt to Canucks.
K-Andre Miller another wish big D RFA but Rangers not likely to oblige there. |

I am sure the Canucks are looking around for another 5th d-man, to join the ranks of all the others on the team.
Should only cost a 1st and 2 3rds.
This team is going to be so awesome, just look how great they were at the end of the season. |

Kind of like Boston in the playoffs!

Would a JT Miller for Pesce deal be good or bad? Pesce is gonna cost 7ish. He's gonna get 7 or 8 years and he's had 2 big surgeries. Great now though |

I agree, this imo is a big FU to all the other teams that they’ve probably been talking to about trades. They’ve probably been asking for sweeteners knowing the Canucks are up against it. Benning would’ve caved and said “ok”…but Allvin probably went to Rutherford and Aquilini and said this needs to be done to give us flexibility. |

They should still take calls on #11 as part of a package that includes a quality D or 3C coming back.
