Andrew: What is the Sabres’ plan in net?
LL: I expect it to be Devon Levi and Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. Adams will inquire about goalies on the trade market and possibly check the price tag for someone such as Frederik Andersen, but there doesn’t seem to be an option that fits with the Sabres’ short- and long-term plan. Carrying two goalies on cheap contracts ensures that there’s cap flexibility. However, there’s also risk in betting on two unproven options.

I've been reassured that it's not levi / upl from other hockeybuzzers... what's this all about?
Also, how about bringing in someone like blake wheeler. Guys a great passer and leader.
Peg seems to want to rebuild.
I'd take dillon for the regular season fighting, sure the playoffs would be a nice toughness piece

UPL for Spencer Knight, Adams gets his tandem of Levi and Comrie while Knight spends the year at Passages Malibu.

Saw someone else bring up the idea of Wheeler and I don't hate it but not sure where he slots in. It would allow us to spread the wealth a bit tho. I'd like that top9 anyways.

Lance could be fed smokescreen bullpoop and never know, as he never fact checks anything.
He's way too excited to get any information at all and be on the Sabres 'inside', or so he thinks. |

Lance states what he knows about Kev searching the market, then offers his opinion that, something along the lines of 'he can't find a fit so it's probably upl' is a garbage opinion.
Are you telling me there's not a guy in this league that can fit with Levi. There's plenty of trade and UFA veterans that can give you exactly what you want. Competence and a few years of play. |

Miller, 5x$6.5m - IonSabres
IMO, the Rangers match the offer above almost immediately.
It buys a UFA season, and is an AAV that they can figure out how to work with.
You would need to add half a million to a million to the $6.5M AAV, and shorten the deal to 4 years to get the Rangers to think twice. |

It forces the Rangers hand to sign him thereby exposing other players, it should be weaponized but the NHL is a country club of boring managers.

That's interesting. 👍
Peterka's bowling ball build and effort make me feel like he could slide down the lineup to a conventional 4th line. An actual hybrid 4th line.
Adds more leadership, replaces girgensons.
12 - krebs - peterka as a 4th line .....
Or a 3B line....

I'd say lance knows more then most of our "insiders".
It's kinda his job.
I'm really curious about the goalie situation.
My "insider" says levi is the 100% undisputed starter next season.
That's what the franchise is going to do.....
They love him and came to some agreement beyond playing 7 of the last 9 games last season.
As for upl, feels like they still like him. Although he could be traded for a 1B type vet imo.
Sabres just like to see these young guys develop. |

See now there's a guy to pay for! Another to entertain would be Wallstedt. He's ready and I guess MIN are trying to resign Gustavsson long term. He has played really, really well for them so I get it, but I think Wallstedt might even be a better all around prospect than Levi. I thought they'd trade Filip, resign Fleury for one and usher in the heir apparent...but it doesn't seem so. |

Sure, but is the goal to get the Rangers to expose other players, or to actually get the player who you really like to sign the deal and have their current team actually not match?
I'd rather offer a deal with the best chance to get Miller to sign and the Rangers to take the picks.
That, IMO, is a 4 year deal for $30M total. |

That may be 2024-25 stuff, as guys like Ostlund, Rosen, Savoie and Kulich simply demand looks. Then you might insulate some of them to start by doing this. I could see it. |

The NFL draft picks are more valuable to the organizations yet the NHL treats draft picks like gold.
Those prospects are then held on a pedestal for years while the team hopes they've hit lightning in a bottle while residing in the lower end of the standings.
Vegas/Tampa have shown you don't need to approach the draft/trades the same once the core is in place.
The Sabres have their core and then some yet we are still here discussing what calculated trades/acquisitions can be made for minor improvements....and calling him a top5 GM in the process.
Instituting an interior cap for the team show the owner is not committed to winning, Adams can continue to try as he has since he arrived to no avail.
Better put some gravy on that shoe.

If Lance actually did his job properly, he would've said I'm hearing they are likely to roll with Levi and UPL, followed immediately by: That sounds like smokescreen baloney, as they know they cannot roll with two goaltenders that are that unproven and plan on it being a playoff season with any degree of confidence.
File that smoke as subterfuge. |

The goal is to acquire the player that gets the offer sheet, having options if it gets matched is good management, specifically when the offer sheet is sent to a cap strapped team full a quality players.
Not landing Miller but getting a better shot at signing one of their UFA's is a way to balance the playing field for the Sabres. Buffalo needs to be cut throat if they want respect and for players to want to sign there.

Cocaine is meh in Buffalo so once he's cured he will be a high ceiling/team friendly cap hit, 1A option with Levi. |
