Yep, exactly what I said.
Not like we have second round picks or other assets we can trade.
But go off my grouch - Swedish_Jesus
Nothing grouchy. I know you're all about drafting and building from within and all. At what point is it OK to make a couple real moves, not a 2 and a 5 for a greenway type moves? Ever? Or only after you've let your drafted "core" grow out of their elc's when your cap space dwindles? Just let the young guys try to learn from each other constantly until it works or doesn't work and then just keep drafting all over again? When exactly is the right time?
I bought the house I now live in "stupidly" in 2019 at the absolute "height of the market". Man, what an idiot I was back then. House 2 doors down, a lesser comp just sold last week for 65% more than we paid with a drastically higher interest rate to boot. Guess I should've held off. Oh well, I'm just stuck with this appreciated asset and shafted with this all time low interest rate. |

Yeah that bozo had three chances to draft Brandon Montour - TheSabresTaco
All brawn, no brains…his eye to face ratio wouldn’t hold up long term, had to go. |

If we can’t make a meaningful acquisition without moving 13OA or one of the blue chip prospects, then I’ll accept the fact this front office isn’t up to snuff.
Olofsson at 50% retained maybe hauls a 2nd rounder in return, maybe the best we can do is a third rounder.
That should give us the 2024 first, 3/4 second rounders and 2/3 third rounders in the next two drafts (depending on Olofsson).
If you can’t use those to acquire a #4 d-man and a goalie (not to mention free agents that cost no assets at all) then I’ll agree that Ventura and this front office isn’t up to snuff. |

Chuck Fletcher says Tim Murray offered all 3 of those crappy 2nd round picks for 18OA to draft Alex Tuch.
What he should have done is traded 2015 2OA and 2023 77OA for 2014 18OA, 2019 17OA, 2022 16OA and 2023 64OA
1st and a 3rd for 3 1sts and a 3rd which became a 2nd in 2021? What a deal. - TheSabresTaco
See that is dumb …….i don’t care if you are playing fantasy football or an NHL gm. If you truly believe in a guy you want. Go get him no matter the cost
Again if you truly believe in the player. Then do it

Sometimes you find good stuff in the bargain bin at goodwill. Very rarely is it better than something you buy brand new at full price. |

If KA can't/won't make meaningful moves, why is it on analytics? I don't think they are the ones fighting to keep Joker around.

His value clearly wasnt high. Always had flashes but never could consistently be the offensive driver he was this year. Even last year on a better offensive Florida team he didnt produce like he did this year.
Not sure why you guys decide to complain about that trade now.. |

well most of the problem lies in the fact that Murray gave Fletcher 4 minutes to decide instead of pitching the idea of moving up well in advance. Beane talks about that all the time. Talks to GMs around the draft, see what it would take to get in a certain position, figure out how far you can move up or down comfortably..
But Leroy (frank)ing Jenkins over there was king of the hip shot.

Why is it just “a” RHD and not the best RHD we can possibly get and (frank) the cost because we’re freaking loaded with forward talent and we absolutely don’t need to draft 13oa?
Just get the best guy possible.
Or we can settle, as the Sabres always do with guys like Lyubushkin and Comrie |

We should be making the pick.
We have two seconds, VO, Rosen, Joker, maybe mitts to move for a top 4 RHD. No need to trade the 1st or reach for a D at 13 if we do make that pick.
I'm warming up to UPL and Levi as our goalies if we get a legit top 4 RHD. - Fattony1187
Completely agree 🤝
Lots of assets , with few positions "of need".
Just buy a competent 4th defenseman july 1st. |
