Far be it from me to act like I know better given how wrong I usually am but, I think Gerbe has old info.
There was talk about moving up from 13 to try and get michkov but that's not realistic at this point. - Michael Ghofrani
Why is it not realistic now? |

Guess you'd just have to be prepared to do it at the draft, if it falls that way.
Having assets to move up is one thing. Actually being able to do it is another.

Even in a regular draft, moving up from 13 into around 6 or 7 is crazy expensive.
In a draft where everyone knows why you are doing it? you get held hostage on value until its so bad you ask yourself why do it for a guy who /might/ come over when there's a different GM at the helm? |

Basically can't weaponize there Cap space with Contracts signed now. - Buff36
Unfortunately adams isn’t doing that. I’m not disagreeing with the idea.
It just didn’t seem like Adams is up for it |

It has to also make sense. Sure, he'd get lauded for pulling it off, for maybe 5 mins. Then ppl would start asking why all the surplus in assets that couldve been spent on defense and goaltending went to a guy they wont see for several seasons. |

Bringing back Giggles and Slowpokso-
With those signings, the Sabres now have 22 of a possible 23 NHL contracts on the roster right now and still have about $14.5 million in unused cap space. This puts the Sabres in an interesting spot heading into the offseason. If Adams wants to upgrade this roster, he’ll have to make a trade or two to move players off of it. As it stands, the team has elected to bring back much of the same forward group that helped the Sabres finish top three in the NHL in goals for.-Fairburn, The Athletic.
Speculation on Gerbe's most recent post about Sabres "they won't have the 13th" coupled with vague assertions that they would use it to trade up by stating "this draft is viewed as potentially franchise-changing" by the FO.
I'm connecting the dots with a major trade that includes an existing roster player, #13-OA, and a Prospect. Hence why they brought back Zemgus, to fill a void in the lineup ... but whose going? - IonSabres
I'm not gonna speak for Ziggy, but maybe mitts or krebs?
My understanding was 5 or 6 for 5 or 6 with mitts.
25-30 million.

Perhaps, IDK.
I will say that Gerb's has boasted big things before which haven't occurred.
We'll see.
For Michkov, the Sabres likely would need to get to 5 in front of AZ and Wash at 8...that is a pretty big ask IMO. If I was GM I'd wait for AZ to make their selection and see what Briere wants from the organization that screwed him over (somewhat). |

Cost wise is gonna be a bit more to I would suspect in this draft to move up, especially into the top 8. |

At 13 ? - Buff36
Wouldn't surprise me. He shows a lot better in NHLe based models than some of the mock drafts out there. |

Yeah, still seems like a reach at 13 |

Right. It's tough to do in the NHL. Teams are much more willing to just draft their guy early in the 1st than move back a few spots.

Wouldn't stop them. They reached for Rosen in 21 I think. |

No need to switch. Call me whatever you want but I still have only one opinion. By the way I kind of enjoy reading the Richard Roma posts and definitely was a big fan of Kernal Rsh. - Freddie krug
Agree 100%
Roma the only poster that actually makes me LOL

I think it was that they reached for oslund then got lucky that Kulich dropped so far |

Why wouldn't they just move back, pick up some draft capital, leverage that to benefit the organization. Seems purposely wasteful. |

I could see them take the local kid musty at 13.
In a perfect world they trade down to take him or up from the 2nd round . |

Reached for Rosen. Also reached for Ostlund. Think there were both similar types of reaches. Where they could of went in those spots but were more slotted late 1st’s |

Maybe. Boards and Mocks are all over the place starting around 10. I have not seen one with a pick before 20...well, maybe 1, maybe. |
