The Devils emptied their garbage can unto the Sharks for an excellent top 6 RFA.
- TheSabresTaco

The Sabres looked into Timo but then saw that their garbage cans could used in other ways so decided to hold on to them. If you look at the garbage can 5 years down the road, it could be used to store back up hockey sticks thus altering its value as a trade chip.

The fans need to learn the cutting edge creativity being utilized in that building. Buddy of mine said Terry told management to be influenced by an older Texas based energy company....yes that company had a significant amount of balding executives, they had a lot promise for the future.

Robert Hagg almost won the Stanley Cup after being traded from the Sabres...I stand corrected, that was a typical Sabres trade where the only value left is future projections.

Just as an aside, the 5 or 6 guys drafted after Rosen have as much or less of a chance of making the NHL as a regular as Rosen does.

But in general, Im always of the mind that trades should be evaluated based on the value at the time it was made.

If you trade your star player for a 6th and that 6th turns into kucherov you did not win that trade under any circumstances. You got beat senseless, left a ton of value on the table, and stumbled bass ackwards into saving your job. Extreme example, but you get the point.

Drafting success rate is a whole other animal and shouldn't be lumped in with trade value.

- Michael Ghofrani

Recall them saying it was a top heavy draft class. Not looking good after Sillinger at 12.

I'm with you on draft success vs trade success.

No this guy is Sabretooths emergency back-up, they use him as a coffee runner when the real Sabretooth guy is healthy. He drew a sketch of the logo Terry was showing the guys:

Agree, and how much credit should your Developmental Coaches get for getting that prospect to shine even brighter.
- Buff36

I'm more pragmatic on development than most here. They get too much credit for good prospects, and too much blame for bad ones. If a 1st doesn't work out, it's not fair to automatically point at development.

And the Greenway-Cozens-Tage line had good metrics.

Not saying I would have done the Greenway trade myself, but I think we need to slam on the breaks here and give it more time before we throw the guy to the wolves here

Isn't this year considered both a strong and deep draft class?

They definitely pick their words carefully when it's a weak draft class. GM speak comes out.

Guess Danny turned down the Blues' late 1sts (1 of them) and a 2nd for Scott Laughton.

Which is definitely something

it's all (frank)in hogwash.

2021 was seen as pretty weak. I think 2017 was as well.

Why are the devils trying to make trades? Everyone knows the secret to winning in the NHL is to draft and use the roster as a development group for future winning.

- washedup20

This is exactly why they won't do it. They might bring him in as a rental as they are a year ahead of us, but they won't be foolish enough to give him huge jack.

Purely from a stats perspective, I think the top 10 is real nice. The rest is kinda whatever.

But then, non stats mock top 10 are probably way different than mine or other stats ppl.

It wouldn't surprise me if he was just playing possum a bit to see if someone else would offer more. That said, he hasn't impressed me much as a GM. I still can't believe he took Cal Peterson's contract.

Central scouting director said Etienne Morin would be his first d-man off the board for the draft.

I think he goes somewhere in the first round.
