People speak of Pesce being a product of his environment but I think that is Mayfield 100%
Not a huge fan of his.
I want a Top 4 where you say who is the weak link and you really have to think. Especially with the system we play. (I won’t comment on Goaltending) - sabrerob
Agreed. I don’t have an interest in Mayfield, especially as a top 4 D.
I’d rather have Joki |

I definitely agree with you on mayfield. He’s not my pick, just a gut feeling. - Michael Ghofrani
Then I hope that is just a Tummy ache! 😉 |

I'd be fine if they paid the highest % in the league, with 2 #1's. If you can get the right guy for 6-7m, do it. - Lunaion
I'll take a quick, non analytical stab for fun...not floor/ ceiling, just a target percentage...the rest requires too much time to invest in research..just don't have.
('23$'s):
G -10% ($8.3m)
D - 35% ($29.2m)
F - 51% ($42.5m)
Hold - 4% ($3.5m)
If you subscribe to the above as somewhat close, Sabres D
Sammy $4.3m
Dahlin. $10.0m
Power $8.75m
Player X. $6.0m
3rd Pair R $1.75m
3rd Pair -L $1.4m
7th D $1.0m
I think that totals ~$33.2m. =39.8% of $83.5m in 2023...would be 37.9% in 2024 or 2025 ... not bad.
Just shows the critical need for a strong pipeline to have lower level players on ELC's or low cost in any event.
They can afford to invest in a quality 2nd pairing guy. |

Not going to look too hard, but I see Boston is at 31m for their D atm. Maybe someone is a little higher.
With Buffalo, it's not an issue the next few seasons. With the cap heading up, don't see it as a long term problem either. I'm fine if they are #1. If it costs them a F in 4 years, deal with it then. |

Player X could be Pesce
Boosh and Stills for over $4 are EZ-ly replaced for around $2 with Johnson/Novikov or any other 13 minute 3rd pairing plug. If you get a good keeper, great, if not, keep looking |

I revised my post as I hit submit prior to being done....key point: keep building the pipeline for quality replace, entertainment on ELC'S |

Yup, see revised above.
They can do this.
Pluse, their G's won't be that expensive either for some time to come...and Skinner's contract can come off in 3 years if need be via buyout. |

Right. 4th line is meant for low cost ELC's and vets, not overpriced failures. Make good and timely decisions on your players.

I dont think the Sabres would have a problem doing this either, I just dont think Carolina moves Pesce. |

I’m with you. They can grab a 1b for some expense for 2-3 years but still be fine. Get top 8/ top 4 and be set for several years. I’d love to draft another goalie this year (I like Trey Augustine with our 2nd or LA’s 3rd) and keep drafting 1 per season until you have 4 real prospects. |

Probably not, but hopefully it's someone. Almost time to find out. Hopefully the first significant post-teardown add. I'm not going to count Greenway.

In my head I keep thinking the draft is the 23rd so Im surprised I havent heard anything but it's actually 10 days away so not all that surprising.
I think the moves start coming end of this week. |

I think he’s getting traded the more I keep hearing his name thrown around.
It just makes a ton of sense.
They have a few good D prospects, they need shooting talent and their franchise D is also up for a contract within 2 years.

The prospects are lefties though right? If anything that makes me think they'll move Skjei |

I dont think he's the guy they are big on though. From that crop, the star looks like nikishin.
Just absurd KHL stats. - Michael Ghofrani
If you are just picking one, yes, but they were very high on Morrow at last check. |

I dont think he's anything special though, like top4 worthy. I think Nikishin is the reason they theoretically would be okay moving a top 4 guy right now. |

Erik Karlsson paired with Dahlin for 4 years is tempting
it's not our money |

I hope you're right. I just can't my hopes up on someone who probably doesn't get moved at all.
