Height / Weight
Kaprizov at draft 2015 -- 5' 9" / 176 lbs Now -- Height 5.10 -- Weight 202
Michkov at draft 2023 -- 5.10 172 Who knows by the time he comes over
But we can't judge by his size at 18 and what he will be like at 21 or 22

All I am saying is Smith had better be head and shoulders better than Michkov.

yes, but we already have too many small players. wayyyyyyy too many. that's one of the reasons they went with Slaf last year.

there's nothing wrong with having a good small player. Boston have Marchand, Vegas have Marchesseault, MINN have Kaprizov... but that's the thing, they have ONE. not 4 or 5.
that being said, yes, he could and probably will get bigger. good for him.

absolutely, and I stand by that one. but he is still there.

as long as you're aware that you don't have to form a premature opinion about a young player, then it's all good lol.

btw, I'm not saying he sucks. I'm saying he doesn't bring enough to be a top6.

yes I know, and you're entitled to think what you want about the guy, I just thought it was funny how quick you were to "diagnose" that player, that's all.

it's not that difficult Pat. does he skate like Byron? does he shoot like Caufield? does he play with grit like Gally (or RHP)?
no, no, and no again. so what does he bring exactly?

for a second there I was sure this was a typo, but then I didn't remember anything about Federov being forced to join the army, except maybe for the "red army" loll.

So Fedotov is a 6'8 goalie prospect for the flyers..? damn.

- Pat1993

Played with SKA, then signed with the Flyers. Whoopsie looks like you forged your mandatory military service papers bud and still need to do it

I think people see players bigger than they are lol
https://ksl.sportsdirecti...ams/rosters/roster29.html

minn
5-11 4
5-10 5
5-9 3
5-8 1

VGK
5-11 2
5-10 1

MTL
5-11 3 Pittlick Suzuki Harris
5-10 1 Wideman
5-9 3 Farrel, Gally and Byron
5-7 1 Caufield

So we aren't so small, we could add 1 more with supposed generational skills.

oh for (frank)'s sake, my point is he's played 6 NHL games, fido. SIX.

how many times have we seen a young player (he's 21 btw lol) struggle in the league when he started playing with the big boys to then follow a nice learning curve and become a high-quality player?

I'm not saying that I'm convinced you're 100% wrong, I'm just saying it's too early to tell, as he does look like a smart hockey player who could potentially adapt his game well over time.

I get what you're saying, but I'm talking strictly from a habs perspective, Hughes and co. do have some leeway since they're in rebuild mode but perhaps for example drafting a guy like Michkov still represents too much of a risk in an intense hockey market like MTL, whereas if you're located in San Jose with barely any pressure then it could be worth the gamble.

anyway I wouldn't expect too much movement among those top picks, chances are everyone will be staying put in the top 5 or top 10.

- Pat1993

Not gonna worry too much about it til the 4th pick is announced!

Vegas didn't win despite their goaltending though, Aden Hill was without a doubt a contributing factor for his team. the performance he gave was impressive AF, and if people talk about so much it's because he was initially considered like the 4th goalie in the golden knight's depth chart.
- Pat1993

Hill had shown flashes of this in the past, but never really put it all together. Throw Vegas' D-corps in front of him and he got hot at the right time and there you go.

Maybe he continues to be the real deal, and if not, he got a cup out of it.

Good for him.

while that may be true, there's still too many risks imo.
and now we hear a rumor that Michkov would like to choose his future destination in the NHL, refusing to speak to different teams prior to the draft!
(frank) him, as good as he is.

even if he agrees to meet with the CH, do we really want this type of person in the CH organization? Is he a player who would really fit into the culture that Martin St. Louis is trying to establish with the organization?

To ask the question is somewhat to answer it.

That's all we have so far, if something concrete comes out I'll change my mind. Imo this is the media doing what they do every draft, create drama. That said it seems like the habs have solid contacts in Moscow so I believe they will make a decision not based on rumors but solid info. The drop off from Smith/Michkov to Leonard/Benson is pretty big so I'll be really disappointed if that's what we end up with.

what are we supposed to do with our televisions at this time of year? i was in a bar earlier and the TVs had a choice between reruns of MMA fights and a black and white show about skateboarding.

I truly hope this will be the case, whether it's to avoid taking a huge risk full of red flags, or to bring on a kid who will not only eventually help with the rebuild and make the team competitive, but become one of the main reasons behind the team's success because he's the real deal and the habs just couldn't miss out on such an opportunity.

huh, didn't know skateboarding was around before color TV existed...
the more you know.

but yeah same here, my TV became useless now that hockey season is over. it sucks cuz I still have to pay for the TV bundle that I have so I can get the sports channels I want, if my billing could take a break until next season that would be amazing.

try it. believe it or not, it might work. i told comcast down here that i was just cancelling everything but internet and the lady admitted to me that i could cancel cable during the hockey and football offseason months and then just start it back up in the fall with no penalty. not only that, but if the break is 90 days or longer, when you start it back up you can get the cheap start-up promo again like you're a brand new customer.

woah. to be honest I never really considered that this could be an option, it isn't that big of a deal budget-wise but if Vidéotron allows me to do that then why the (frank) not.

i just got home. had a deadpoulet cutlet sandwich today with roasted peppers, broccoli rabe, and sharp provolone cheese and it was pretty unreal, so today was a success even if i pass away in few minutes.

can't hurt to ask.

comcast does this hard sell thing when the rates go up. they have a retention center, which is underpaid people whose job is to talk you out of cancelling when you call to cancel. i told the lady i'd had enough this time and not to waste her time with the hard sell. i told her i only watch the damn thing for football and hockey. and then i asked her if i could cancel and at least save the $200 for a few months and start back up and she was like "i'm not supposed to tell you this but yes, yes you can"
