I chose at 14 to stop being a follower of Joe Sakic and the Avs to follow my friends' fav Leafs?

I thought that was obvious

that Monahan contract could also mean that Dvorak is on his way out btw. good news.

The potential addition of Dubois would force moves down the middle, even more with Monahan. Both players can play wing but are natural centers.

Monahan extended

MONTREAL - Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes announced on Tuesday that the team has agreed to terms on a one-year, $1.985 million contract extension (2023-24) with forward Sean Monahan.

yes hence why he went from 6M to 2M, it's a 1yr deal, low risk.

I had forgotten how cute it was around the sheer dumb optimism that a "rebuild" brings. Love you guys, never change. Even after the last 14 first round picks that turned out to not achieve. The spirit of Danny Kristo commends you.

I still wonder how many of his pick were changed by GMs over the years, specifically actually making the change or setting direction as to what to pick over what he might have though the BPA was.

Would be interesting to get that story one day.

still wouldn't change my opinion. if he was unhappy or disapproved he simply had to quit. he stayed, he's accountable.

Not saying he could have been great or much better, I am more interested int hat process TBH... and because I follow the team, I have a little better view of what happened afterwards that some other team I just do not follow draft picks.

Of course but I put NO weight on this, Pat Brisson invited some his top clients to the F1 race, got them privileged access including a pontoon boat ride.

Are they bringing back PK? trading for Hughes and Zegras also? Nilan?

Oh that's who that was.

I couldn't help but notice the chocolate martini spilled on the table and the broken glass.

to me it's pretty clear that the gm sets the guidelines. we want that type of player, with these qualitites....etc. go get them.
now at the draft I would believe that the gm has the final word for round 1, but after that he pretty much gives the wheel to the head scout.
the simple fact that Timmins have not drafted a 70pt player in almost 20 years..... come on. that is ridiculous. and you cannot blame the gm for that one.

for sure, he wants to come to MTL IMO but he doesn't want to screw too much WPG.

I would be very surprised if Dubois lands anywhere else but MTL, I think Dubois and Brisson are just trying to save face in this situation with "helping" the Jets negotiate with multiple parties.

I say the Habs trade for Dubois, sign him to an 8yrs deal at 8.25M/yr. Big question is...what does that trade look like.
