Whomever gets DeBrincat wins. Whomever gets Karlsson loses. No amount of picks or salary retention changes that. Nice to see GMs found a way to buy players again. |

Ok ....so let's think logically ....
Chabot (8) Karlsson (8.5) Chychrun (4.6) Zub (4.6)
then you add Jake Sanderson - who likely will get 6.5-7.5 on a long term deal.
Can someone tell me a team that pays $33-35M on D? - AlfieisKing
Sakic: Hold my beer. Byram and Toews get new deals, it'll be well over that amount.

DeBrincat can help a team score goals in regular season. No evidence that helps a team win. Serious doubts about his size and grit if he get to playoffs.
I like DeBrincat straight up for Tom Wilson. |

I wonder who the GM is? Someone that tried to acquire Karlsson, but was rebuffed...maybe Ken Holland? Maybe Kyle Dubas? There can't be too many other teams involved. So one of those GMs learned about all of the details on this 3-way trade and then decided to share all of that info with Ek. Maybe to try and drive the prices up. My guess is Ken Holland. Either way. Pretty huge news. |

Hard pass.
Sens do NOT need another D, as much as I like EK. They need his money to pay for Sanderson next year. THEY NEED A GOALIE!
Debrincat is worth a 1st and 3rd (with salary retained) at the trade deadline to any playoff bound team if he has 25 goals. At least.
EK isn't worth that with that humongous salary.
And why involve CHI at all? You could do Debrincat to SJ for EK (with 3.5 retained) on its own.
Debrincat to NSH for Saros and a salary dumb
Debrincat, Forementon, Thomson to PHI for Hart, Konecky, Laughton |

No, but I can tell you about a team that gives $33M to 3 forwards to not show up in the playoffs. - SuperHenderson13

I’m not a Karlson fan so no idea why Ottawa would want him. Sure you can throw out the fact that he’s a Noris trophy winner. However to me he won the Norris for the wrong reasons…..a defence man should win the Norris. In other words someone who keeps the puck out not someone who gets lots of points. A few hits during playoff style hockey and Karlson will fold up like a $3 lawn chair. Bad move. |

So Karlsson and DeBrincat are going “home” (original team). Any rumor power forward Mike Hoffman will be going back home to the Sens?

That’s going up substantially when Matthews guarantees the team to fail for many more years, with his new contract. |

for the most points as D-man |

Nevermind the fact that DeBrincat's camp has already disclosed the short list of franchises that he would sign an extension with. Chicago is not on the list. And Karlsson back to Ottawa where his family would be repeatedly asked about all the drama surrounding his departure. Why on earth would he waive a NMC to go back to Ottawa?
On the other hand, the source on this is one of the NHL's GMs. So its obviously being discussed. - Cooleus
I think Ek is talking to some fantasy league commissioner that he's a part of and somehow that translates over to an NHL GM. |

EK is 33 years old he has one good season in what the last 4? ottawa will lose this trade in 2-3 yrs when he starts to fade fast in his mid 30's
better offers out there for ottawa as their number one need is a starting goalie |

Does Karlsson not have any say as to where he goes? Pretty sure he’s gonna want a team with a chance to contend |

EK CAN YOU PLS CHANGE THE DAMN CAP CENTRAL!
THE PLAYOFFS ARE OVER. WHY THE MC FRANK ARE WE LOOKING AT 2022-2023 SALARIES WITH DRAFT + UFA COMING

Because the league year changes on July 1 you (frank)ing moron.

Can’t say I ever believe anything on the top of the HB page, but this DOES make sense fimor all teams involved.
Chicago gets debrincat back, lindblom and a second all for 3m in cap space and a RS slot used. Win.
SJ gets 1st and 2nd, no retained salary. Could have done better, but when dealing with a full NMC… still a win.
Ottawa gives up lots, but gets Karlsson at 8.5m for several more years. Also a win, seeing as debrincats value plummeted with the announcement.
True or not, I call this trade nearly plausible.
Still waiting to hear who won the last “you’re the GM” scenario. That was weeks ago… also still waiting for my season ticket from 2 years ago EK.

Okay first off a rumour is something that’s been talked about between the teams mentioned. Not something you’ve wishboned out of NHL23.
Second Chicago literally and I mean literally got rid of Debrinicat not even a year ago 🤦♂️.
Third stop making stuff up. |
