Garth is not in charge anymore. Lou is in charge and it's on Lou and his staff to draft and develop players better than what was done in the past.

I dont disagree with you, but I also feel like Lou walked into a situation whereby ownership was laying out a ton of money for a new building, and therefor had to ice a competitive team. In a perfect world the team would have rebuilt under Lou, and started over. It was not an ideal situation to inherit, and we can all question certain moves ex post facto. But, the team they have now, was set up by 12 years of ineptitude and the ripple effects are still there.

It appears to me that the common theme in the Snow era of drafting were drafting smart/nice guys or problem players with all upside. Unfortunately thats all they drafted, from Bailey and Tavares, to the busts like MDC, Ho Sang, and both Kirrils. I dont think theres enough emphasis put on how many years the drafting was so poor and ultimately how much its hindered the farm team, and ultimately the isles.

Lou is not really the rebuild type of GM. Lou prefers a vet team. This is fine if you really want to go for it. You have to be able to sign top FA's though when you do have the space if you are not going to have the draft picks and good young prospects to count on. When you give up #1 picks in trades, the players you are getting back need to make a difference. JGP and Palms are nice players but are limited. Lou was brought on because Garth was lousy. I'm glad Lou was hired and the Islanders had some great moments with the two ECF trips. I was hoping the Islanders could push through and get to a Cup. it has not happened yet. It's tough when the team is so close and they take a step back the last two years. Hopefully it still can happen.

All things considered Lou added a few pieces to an inferior team and they saw the ECF twice. This team didn’t sniff that since 1993. I’m confident that Lou is aware of the dismal PP and will address it.

PP and the offense overall. It's a tall order for sure.

I heard something about Krug would waive his NTC for Islanders. Not sure I would want him but if it's true it's great to hear a player would waive to come to island.

St. Louis would have to eat a good amount of that salary and take little back in return, he's not the player he used to be.

#Isles and #NYR play four times this season. Once in February, outdoors at MetLife, one in March (St. Patty's Day) and twice in April

I'm sure it would cost Dobson plus.

Nylander has a cap hit of almost $7 MM. He becomes a UFA after next season. Dobson has 2 more seasons at $4 MM, and then becomes an RFA (with arbitration rights). No thanks.

When it was exciting, we got the Luongo and Yashin moves.

The Johnny Boychuck, Leddy, Grabovski, Kulemin, year was the last exciting one I can remember. Before that I think it was the yashin year. I’m not expecting much for obvious reasons but who knows. Pretty indifferent to it.

I know . I don't expect much. But then I hear the rumors and see rumored players being moved and say , the Islanders couldn't make a better offer??? Just frustrating. But I keep checking all the sites and keep hoping for The Day. I guess someone had me hoping it was today. Thanks Capt.
