So...I'm quitting my new job tomorrow because I got an offer close to home, and for a less stressful job and better pay...but I feel like a piece of poop. Is that normal?

I think this is only my second time quitting a job in my whole life...

- stinger67

hey! congrats!
no no, you think they feel cheap when they fire you?
you go where it's best for you, no hard feelings.
encore bravo!

sounds like you're a good guy who doesn't want to cause any trouble with his former employer... but I suggest you should definitely think a bit more about yourself in this situation, and fully enjoy that new opportunity.

and yeah, congrats

Merci!

Yeah, thanks. It's been a rough few months. I'm seeing where this job is going, and it's going to send me right back where I just came from. So I'm saving myself here.

Yeah, It took me a long time to understand. I don't like to be a "me first" kind of guy, but I need to take care of myself more.

I'm going to give them a week notice, but I expect them to tell me to pack my stuff and leave. I was supposed to be in training next week, no use in staying

taking care of yourself isn't being egocentric at all, it's doing the right and normal thing.

They want me to replace a guy that has cancer...when I arrived they didn't really know about his chances...during my stay it went from 18 months to 2 months. The guy is supposed to train me before he dies. I don't want to live that. Plus, my boss told me that, and said "you are going to have to learn very quickly. I don't want to put pressure on you but I will, you are going to have a lot on your shoulders in the next weeks and months".

There is an engineer in the office with us, and the boss told me "He's struggling, so I need you to take the lead"

I was 3 weeks into the job...

Man, I don't need that. Red (frank)ing flags all over.

good for you.
but it's not the most important. you need a place where you have fun, where you go in with a smile. money is the icing on the cake. imho

Yeah, absolutely...That's what I'm looking for first. But I must say that being at peace financially is huge, especially with how the last few months have been
