As much as we all love speculating on who goes where, impact going further, etc... we gotta figure that we have to stifle our wants and expectations in favour of what the(for once a seemingly knowledgeable) management decides to do. For all the hype that goes into these drafts, there's always the busts, and the late round pleasant surprises that pop up. No matter what, someone is gonna be disappointed, so let's just wait, see what we get, and hope for the best in the long run? In HuGo we trust, right? At least it's not Bergy and Timmins.
And hi y'all...been a while. - Darksyde
for sure, especially if Michkov is still available at 5... if they pick him, it's "omg why are you guys taking this risk", if they don't, it's "omg as if they decided to pass on such an opportunity".

that's why some speculate they might move the pick (to move up or down) and target someone else. |

and everyone knows if you have 2, or god forbid 3 smaller players on your roster, you automatically lose. it's in the rule book. |

if they do that I hope it's because they're actually targeting a specific player, and not just because they want to avoid a situation.

I will support their decision either way.
But they better be (frank)ing right.

oh I'll trust their decision-making as well, as far as I know they're in a better position than any of us to be making the right call... |

Dach and Slafkovsky are big guys in our top 6 moving forward. There's always the possibility to add more big guys afterwards.
Suzuki is smallish but still a very solid player.
Having Michkov and Caufield scoring 40 goals each wouldn't be a problem ffs.
Ryan Leonard is tough but he's not 6 feet tall either despite what his profile says.

I would have picked Shane Wright last year.
Time will tell if I'll be mad about that one.

so far I think the teams that passed on him aren't regretting it, but it's still very early, he could start lighting it up at any moment.

He's been handled very weirdly by Seattle too. But you're right, he didn't "wow" anyone last season.
Really looking forward to seeing Slaf next year.

same, I expect a really good year from him, I don't have any specific expectations in terms of points but I think he'll be extra-motivated to play.

He's a big guy that needs to get stronger to win board battles and battle for positioning. It's normal at his age, it will take a few years for him to get his legs and core strength. |

That draft is going to be the one to study going forward, regardless of who turns out.OHL didn't play at all, Q and W played like 30 games, the USHL played in bubbles against the same team every time, Europe had a weird but bigger schedule. Very unique situation. |
