It's a poopty thing, but being a non-Canadian to win Olympic Gold is a major thing which boosts both Sundin (as Captain) and Alfie. Fair or not, it's expected that Canada wins every year.

I think the criteria to get in has never really been all that clear, and seems to be all over the place now. I do find they could've kept the standard a bit higher but at least they're only letting in actually talented players... it's funny how people sometimes get really mad about this poop, as though Chris Phillips was being nominated or something lol.
