And last offseason the same sword swallowers were killing him for not getting scoring. All of this is so revisionist history
So Joker and Boosh were question marks? Yes, on a very good team Joker is a bottom pair guy Boosh is a 6-7. So yeah, we found out that *ideally* we need a 4D. It wasn't an achilles heel by any stretch of the imagination.
To put it another way, I'd say that we had one of the better D corps in the league on opening night. You don't think that Edmonton, Toronto, etc, would have traded their 6 for our 6? - Slump Buster
Yes Joker and Lyubushkin were ? marks. Did we know how they would fit in there positions. No and obviously they weren't the best.
Really are Defense wasn't a Achilles Heal! I don't know what you were watching but I saw a team hang there goalie's out to dry a lot.
And No I don't think those teams would have taken are 6 |

He traded a 2nd for greenway. Didn't work out exactly how he wanted but he did make a move - Fattony1187
Extrapolated over a full season, his goal total would have been 20 (and he was playing hurt). He is also big and fast - two things that everyone wants. That's not promising?

that's a non issue once we trade to BP

You absolutely can. Last I checked, he made moves in-season to bring in Greenway and Stillman. In limited sample size, they are promising. - Slump Buster
Sure, and yes he brought in another 6-7 Dman to a team that had 5 already. |

And here's my Wisdom for Today!! Keep seeing people posting " Well he let the Kids Play". Yes he did, but you can still let them play and try to improve your team at the same time in other ways. Both things can be done at the same time.🤷🤷 - Buff36
He didn't want to lose their perceived franchise goalie from signing. I don't blame him one bit.
D on the other hand ... he should have fixed it last offseason with a vet to play next to Power...that was a major mistake relying on Joker there.
I see differences between the two situations. |

Both players had been in the league for years. Joker was still young enough that there could have been more growth. I couldn't agree with you more - our main issue is the inability to play team defense. The forwards often left the D and goalie out to dry.
Again, we had a better D corps than several playoff teams. And Adams did effectively bring in 2 goalies last year - in the end it didn't work out the way he hoped it would.

I don't disagree with that at all. So again, his major dereliction of duty is that none of the 5 made the jump to play 4D. That's what all of this female dogging boils down to. Again, you take out the losing streak in the fall when it was decimated by injuries and we are a playoff team.

Huh? Two thirds of the roster are trending up. Could they upgrade at 3rd line wing or 6d? Sure., maybe. Is that what you are complaining about? - Slump Buster
This is what I can’t stand (not you, just this attitude)
Oh we’re all set we only have like two holes on the roster
New Jersey- scored 5 less goals than us last year or 5 more something like that-
What do they do? Go and get a top 6 winger
They had undeniably better goaltending yet they are the #1 team in on Hellebyuck.
Aren’t you the one saying we’re here to build a cup team not just a playoff one?
So let me guess now, we can’t win a cup until Zach Benson is a top 6 contributor 3-4 years down the road? |

Never said he wasn't promising. Didn't give us that push to get over the hump last year. Was just saying he did make a move though last year, might not be the player people wanted but he made one.
Also added size which this team needed. I think he could be a good 4th line player |

I think you missed part of the conversation yesterday. So why did Jersey go out and get Meier? Because they didn't have a Tuch. Why did they get Hamilton? Because they don't have a Power or Dahlin. They were filling holes. They didn't go out and get a second Tuch or a second Dahlin. Same thing with Vegas - they had a huge gaping hole at 1C so they got Jack. We don't have those holes.
Better yet, lets take it a step further. Jersey went into opening night with their own version of UPL/Comrie as their backup (Blackwood) and he crapped the bed. So did the goaltending on a lot of other teams, because it is a crap shoot. You were shot in the rear with all of the moves that Fitzgerald made - he currently has only 16 players signed and he is seeing some pretty good players walking out the door. No holes there? Are you on their board railing the GM? Funny how that - in your mind - the offseason has ended for Adams already yet it hasn't even started for the rest of the league. |

Which good players are the Devils seeing walk out the door?
Looks like their GM identified their core and are cycling through the other roster spots to try and improve.
Remember they have both Hughes and Nemec coming soon on defense.
It's why Graves and Severson were expendable. |
