That's the first step in getting better. You need to hit bottom first.

I just don't get how many teams passed over high-end talent for guys that really don't appear to have a high ceiling. Montreal fans are going bonkers right now.

Benson reminds me a ton of Skinner in that he is a puck hound and goes to the dirty areas. I've heard many say that he was the top defensive forward in the draft, which is really something when you consider everything else.

Some teams draft for organizational need. Some just want to load up on centers. Some want the safe guys.

For a long time, I wanted the home runs in the first round. It's one of the reasons I was so high on Quinn.

Safe picks in the first round is for suckers.

Completely agree. You could even read between the lines when they were discussing some of the picks (Danielson comes to mind). "He does a lot of things well....". That isn't what I want with my top 10 pick in a loaded draft.

I wouldn't say usually. Rossi (for a myriad of reasons) hasn't worked out yet.

I visibly cringed when Weekes said Otto Stenberg was safe.

It was actually pretty funny to hear players compared to Thompson and Tuch. When was the last time that happened? Also, one of the kids was asked who he patterned his game after. His answer: Dylan Cozens.

Last year I saw Gerbe on TV at the draft. Sitting with Terry and Adams. I even took a screen cap.

"Few guys are easier to root for in this draft then Zach Benson, who had his name called at No. 13 by the Sabres. Small but ferocious, Benson is a battler whose approach to the game should be adored in a lunch-pail town like Buffalo."

Its a ton of fun to read about the kid. He also seems to have an infectious personality. The one other interesting thing that he said was that Krebs was the best leader that he has ever been around. I wasn't terribly high on Krebs before last season but I think there is still something special about him. He has more offense than we've seen, but because of the talent that is coming on forward it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up being a sneaky good 4C.

I wonder if Ryan Jankowski was one too many Kevin Devine's.

With But and Simashev, where they were selected.. makes me think ol Janko had quite a hand in that, with draft value vs being the big guy.

Yeah, some very confusing reaches. I think the problem is …. It’s not the nfl draft.

So trading back isn’t as each

Certainly possible, was Jankowski a Tim Murray hire? I can't remember.

you like a guy, that's fine, but also unlike the NHL, these kids mostly take years.

I know teams like Buffalo and Nashville were begging to move up.

I also think that “reaching” in the nhl draft is more acceptable. Like you mentioned , they are kids. So who really knows how they develop

That is also why I think nhl mock drafts are sort of a joke. NHL drafts are very very random
