No way should Buffalo have retained on Eichel. That would have been for 5 years, including the next 3. So glad they did not do that. - Lilroot9
Totally agree, plus the ORG did not want to be paying any part of Eichel's salary while he won a cup somewhere else.
Not wanting to retain on Eichel has no bearing on retaining for one season on Olofsson. |

Rumors that Kyrou is involved in this massive trade 😳 - Powerslave
Part of the original deal was essentially Konecny for Kyrou as part of the overall massive deal. |

I agree totally different. I think part of not retraining is smart business, part not wanting to help other teams, and part Pegula not wanting to.
Although, I still don’t feel they are going to retain on any trade. |

Recall other potential moves where they wouldn't retain. They also had countless opportunities to broker trades, buyouts they wouldn't do, one way contracts they wouldn't give, Bishop's they've acquired....lot of reason to wonder if they'll burn money.
If they do, does it just comes out of their budget and cost them on other moves?

The Sabres wanted a clean cut away from Eichel. Including any and all salary |

That's all.great and all but let's go already. The team is primed and ready to go. It's time for kevyyyyyyyn to slap his coçk on the.table and go for it. Man up, make a couple.man moves and go. No need for the junk tuck target bikini and bud lights. Go get it, now. |

Interested to see how this trade ends up between Philadelphia and St. Louis. Don't know how it turns out for Briere, but 1 trade and he could possibly turn over 20% of his roster. We can't even trade for a Goalie. |

Trades are hard… they take time….
Maybe Gerbe’s prediction hits today.
It’s still early and I think most agree, Adam’s doesn’t need to turn 20% of the roster, he needs a stabilizing goalie and a partner for power. Granted he’s needed those things for two years, but it’s still June. There is still time for a good day… |

Sure, but it's starting to seem he might need to speed that clock up. Seems like the rest of the league already did. |

I'm not disagreeing that they've been bottom line oriented (cheap).
Merely that the decision/mandate not to retain on Eichel was the right move. |

Whether to retain Tyson Jost: After re-signing Kyle Okposo and Zemgus Girgensons, the only real internal decision left is whether to bring back the RFA Jost. Jost was a successful waiver pickup for the Sabres last season and has loved his time in Buffalo. But the Sabres are starting to get short on roster space, so bringing back Jost might keep a younger player off the NHL roster. — Matthew Fairburn

That's the one. Short on Roster space! Interesting that some teams that can do a little contract back and forth have started to get a little busier before the draft. |

Oddly, Jost is 25…. So you need to make room for one of the 19/20 year olds. Or the 24 year old Rousek?
Jost at 4c … move olo?
Skinner. Tage. Tuch
Quinn. Cozens. JJP
Greenway. Mitts. Krebs
Grigs. Jost. Okposo
I mean, it’s last years forward group. No real upgrades in the F ranks. No additional sandpaper. No faceoff help.
It’s. Meh. It was a top scoring unit in the league. Can they keep and pace and fix the team d structure ?
It looks like that might be the plan. |

I have no real beef with Jost in particular.
I have a serious beef with running the roster back, especially signing 2 has-beens on the 4th line.
I suppose we will all jump up and down when SirFallsAlot score one off his ass again.
If they are going to block younger players from joing the roster, how about signing David Kampf for the same Term at the same Cap or less than Jost....with better FO at the same production. It's an upgrade , albeit small...maybe worth a point or 2. |
