I hope not, rather have Pesce.
With Carolina rumored to be after Tony DeAngelo, that would fill Pesce's spot. |

Agree, really don't think Hanifin fits what we want. |

2.5 mil on Girgs and Okposo is an over payment. Could have gotten Okposo for the league minimum. We made him a very rich man. Girgensons might have gotten 1.5 on the open market. Why waste money and cap space? WTF do we feel we owe these guys? |

Pesce is very solid but his price seems to be too high for my liking. No way do I trade Ostlund + for him. Why not justgrab Tanev instead? I know he’s 5 years older but his price seems significantly lower and he’s a better defensive defenseman. Tanev reminds me of Tallinder. |

I understand the wasting roster space but cap space is irrelevant at this point |

Their salaries mean nothing this year, as far as cap space goes. |

We need size, toughness, like Vegas on D and bottom 6. This is why the Girgensons and Okposo signings are puzzling to say the least |

Locker room leadership and 4th line shutdown stats say otherwise. I’m indifferent to them, and maybe signing one or the other would have made more sense but with all the young kids, they do need elder leadership to look up to |

We’ve been a losing team for many, many years with them. Time to turn the page. Okposo could have been offered a director of hockey development role for 1/2 the salary. |

I think it depends on what the extension for Pesce would look like. If it is in the 5 mill range, we would have an elite top 4. Also, what makes you think Tanev wouldn't be at least as expensive?

"They were here during the losing" is a terrible way to judge assets. I would have moved on from Girgs but not for that reason.

That is what respected leaders get. Giving them each a few bones extra for one year is still way better than what Caroline just did for Staal.

It's more about the roster spots and contracts signed now. Basically gonna have to do contract for contract trades, and some teams can't do that. |

I’ve never associated Pesce with Toughness. 37 hits and 110 blocked shots in 82 games. Tanev had 51 hits and 130 blocked shots in 65 games. I’ll take either at this point (don’t ever need to see Joker in the top 4 again) but I’d take Tanev all day/every day over Pesce. CGY needs scoring wingers, how about:
Oloffson and a 3rd for Tanev |

Tanev would prob make nearly the same - Pesce is rumored to want 6.5per, Tanev is at 4.5.
1. We have one of the top cap situations in the league, salaries for Pesce or Tanev are insignificant in the overall scheme of things.
2. All indications are Tanev could be acquired for much cheaper than Pesce
3. Both are RHD, Tanev is just better defensively and fits our needs better |

Why cause of the length of the contract. Sounds top heavy. Last year of the contract his actual Salary is like 775,000. I would take Staal and his 56% Faceoff percentage over either one of are leaders. |
