Tanev would prob make nearly the same - Pesce is rumored to want 6.5per, Tanev is at 4.5.
1. We have one of the top cap situations in the league, salaries for Pesce or Tanev are insignificant in the overall scheme of things.
2. All indications are Tanev could be acquired for much cheaper than Pesce
3. Both are RHD, Tanev is just better defensively and fits our needs better - turbo044
Sorry, I meant the cost in terms of a trade. I agree that paying a third D big money probably isn't in our best interest.

I’ve never associated Pesce with Toughness. 37 hits and 110 blocked shots in 82 games. Tanev had 51 hits and 130 blocked shots in 65 games. I’ll take either at this point (don’t ever need to see Joker in the top 4 again) but I’d take Tanev all day/every day over Pesce. CGY needs scoring wingers, how about:
Oloffson and a 3rd for Tanev - turbo044
The whole toughness thing is so tired. Vegas didn't win by having a grittier team, they won by having a very good roster top to bottom and by playing sound team D. Give me good players that aren't afraid to take a hit and I am happy.

Locker room leadership and 4th line shutdown stats say otherwise. I’m indifferent to them, and maybe signing one or the other would have made more sense but with all the young kids, they do need elder leadership to look up to - turbo044
Not a shot specific to you, rather to the line of thinking that "leadership" is required because there are so many youngsters...Tage, Tuch, Dahlin, and others are solid leaders who have experience now...Cozens is brimming with the right sort of leadership.
Where were the two Larry's when the locker room was so toxic?
That's right, in the locker room being silent...such great leaders! had to wait until the big bad 25 yo was traded! Give me a break. That whole BS Narrative is way, way overplayed.
The TOI against skilled players is about 9:30 per game. It isn't like SirFallsAlot and SlowPokeSo play against McDavid for 23:300+ a game...on fact, less than half. This whole D greatness is a fallacy. We heard the same when the original Larry left...fvck, never missed him. |

Why cause of the length of the contract. Sounds top heavy. Last year of the contract his actual Salary is like 775,000. I would take Staal and his 56% Faceoff percentage over either one of are leaders. - Buff36
After they pay his $1.3M bonus due to start the final offseason of his new deal...

Sure, but why would you want a 3 mill average for 4 years for a guy way past his prime. He looked pretty shot in the playoffs. |

There were a lot of vets during that time. Gionta picks his words very carefully when talking about that era. It had to have been hard to be there when the chosen one was apparently an ahole and the franchise tilted in his direction.
Anyway, it is 2 4th line wingers for a year. No harm done. |

I'd be good with Tanev for 3 year term.
BTW, looking at the Cap today to make assertions that they will be fine in the future may not be
Add:
Dahlin's $4m
Power's $5m (+?)
New Guy at 2RD $4m(+) over Joker's hit
The cap space begins to erode. Thankfully solid contracts for Tage, Cozens, Sammy help, but it won't be a slam dunk. |

I think that fact is why Tanev would be more expensive to acquire. It would start with 13 and one of last years top picks.

What happens if the Larry's give us more of the same this year? More or less the same situation a year from now. Afraid to move on.

2.5 mil on Girgs and Okposo is an over payment. Could have gotten Okposo for the league minimum. We made him a very rich man. Girgensons might have gotten 1.5 on the open market. Why waste money and cap space? WTF do we feel we owe these guys? - lulags
Okposo caught KA doing something big. His signing makes absolutely zero sense. |

My goodness, WTF is up with these GM's?
-Brierre can't get his 2 deals done
-Blake is stuck in neutral on PLD
-Fitz having issues getting Helly on his roster
-Conroy expending some serious energy trading anyone good from Calgary
-Waddell having trouble getting DeAngelo
I was led to believe all these deals were easy and just a snap of the fingers would do it.
Come on Brierre, force Krug to waive for goodness sake.

They were fine last year. If they both come vacant next year, you can criticize Adams then. Seeing as the second year of Rouseks deal is one way, I think they have a plan. |
