WTH happened to the Sabres Cap Space? Hard to believe they are less than 6Mil from the cap. What is the projected Bertuzzi deal? Goalofsson would have to go if he is even a possibility. |

They are two players over the roster limit, though.
Started the day with $14-15 million. Spent $8 million. |

Come on. Sign Bertuzzi. He’d be such a pita for other teams if he played for the Sabres. Do not let another Atlantic Division team get him. |

You gotta figure at least Bryson, Joker or Booshcan and Olo are gone. Probably one of Comrie / UPL. Maybe both.

I can see how that might be true for RFAs / offer sheets, but where else could that happen? Teams are locking good players up early. Just look at the dog meat that was available to day - I can't really name a good player that had to take less just to find a team. ROR went for a reasonable contract, but I suspect that he could have gotten more elsewhere if he wanted it. - Slump Buster
I thought O'Reilly's deal is scary, and not something I would've offered him or been interested in him signing. |

ROR predictably signed somewhere where he has no chance at winning but he will be the 1C in the spotlight and will wear a letter which is all he cares about |

Sabres have 5.8 million in cap space currently.
Olofsson: 4.75 million
Joker: 2.5
Booshkin 2.75
Comrie: 1.8 million
Still have to pay Mittlestadt unless traded
Just some food for thought |

If we are serious about winning recipe:
Clear cap space by not over valuing the players we need to dump.
Sign a starting goalie
Sign Dumba
Sign Bertuzzi

Not many starting Goalies available to sign out there. If they want a starter, probably gonna have to trade for it. |

Sign or trade for a goalie, just get it done!
Key is not holding on to Olofsson just because we can only get a 4th or similar in return. Otherwise, it’s another rebuild year.
Look at comparable returns for teams freeing up cap. I don’t think we can expect more than a 3rd for him |

They are fourth line players. And he's making a whopping $675,000 less than those other two. Again, we're complaining about our fourth line. Ffs. - Powerslave
Those 4th line players are going to be utilized in the:
PK
Defensive zone face offs
Shutting down opponents top lines
Leadership on and off the ice
Those are all weaknesses on the team, Adams overpaid players who want to be in Buffalo, have letters on their jerseys, have no proven success in Buffalo.
There was opportunity to improve at those positions and save money on the cap (yes it matters). |
