Levi wants the pressure too. Like Patrick Roy. I’m hoping they go with Levi and 6K. Maybe a William Jennings worthy tandem. Makes no sense to bring in Helly if you plan to keep Levi. They get Helly, they need to trade Levi. That’s how I see it. - Hatboro_Swords
Yep
Every indication is levi is the 2023/24 starter and beyond.
Upl can stay or leave , although I think hes a good vibes guy in the lockerroom to pair with levi.
Think josh allen and matt Barkley.
Someone to keep the star player happy , but really not threaten for the starter position.
Sabres didnt throw away last season to trade for connor helly. Makes zero sense...... |

He has no more free passes to Rochester, they would have to send him through Waivers. |

I’m not sure Clifton can play the 25 minutes/games that Power does (along with Dahlin and Samuelson). He might have to share the 4th spot with Johnson, let Johnson sun in for him every few shifts. Something like this
120 total D minutes per game:
Dahlin, Sammy, power 25 each = 75
Clifton, Johnson 17 each = 34
#6d (bush, joker, stillman) = 11 minutes - turbo044
Why are you basing minutes played by all ice time?
Are Clifton and Johnson likely getting power play time? No sir.
Dahlin and Power averaged just under 20 minutes per game at Even Strength.
I believe Clifton was getting 16:30 of even strength time per game and one minute of penalty kill time.
Johnson was getting 15 minutes of even strength time, 2 minutes of penalty kill time, and one minute of power play time per game.
Based on the above, Johnson is a 3rd pairing defender.
The big question is can Clifton up his even strength time by 1:30 to 2 minutes per game?
If he can, you can fill in the remaining even strength time on ice needed by pairing Dahlin and Power for 2 or 3 shifts a game, as needed. |

Agreed, although the quinn injury and uncertainty leads me to believe that olofsson may get another chance.

Because there are 60 minutes in a game, 2 defensemen playing at a time and of those 60 minutes I can’t predict PK and PP time. It was a generalization, im not Granato |

Seems like they might have had the Power Dahlin idea in the back of there minds with both signings. |

Not all minutes are the same, and I doubt either of Clifton or Johnson are going to be getting much of any power play time, which means it comes down to even strength and penalty kill time.
Neither Dahlin or Power were playing 25 minutes a night at even strength. |

Above average goalie, term is one year but an RFA afterwords.
Could do a lot worse on a minimum two year term.
Could even flip him next offseason and recoup assets if another stop gap becomes available - Swedish_Jesus
We got upset when we flipped a late 1st for lehner and we want to add two other guys for a goalie who has been about the same or worse than Robin? |

Rodriguez would have been a massive upgrade over Girgensons, Jost, Okposo.
I’m worried those three signings and Adams way over valuing Olofsson are going to handcuff him. If the roster is as it sits, we are not a playoff team. Too many in the East made significant moves.
He will probably add a value depth player and be done with it. - lulags

Erik Johnson called buddies on the Avs to get their opinion: "I called a lot of my old teammates and I was bouncing the teams off some of them. All of them really said Buffalo’s a team on the rise. That’s not a secret anymore. People know that the Sabres are coming."

Erik Johnson says he had 5 or 6 options in free agency and Buffalo was at the top of the list.

Hart seems like a 2 player/prospect type guy
Helly seems like a 3 player/ prospect type guy.(extended)
2024 1st
Rosen
Ostlund
Rebuilding teams (ones that trade franchise goalies) are not settling for our trash.
That's why its gonna be levi /upl most likely imo

He also got a long term deal for much more $ then either of our captains.
You're missing on the team liking these guys and wanting to listen and learn from them. Being respected is important.

Sabres GM Kevyn Adams: “I’m really excited about the goaltenders we have.”
Said he’ll see how things play out in the coming weeks with the UFA/trade market but comfortable with Levi/UPL and mentioned how upgraded defense will help their goalies. |

Carter Hart would have had the Sabres in the playoffs last year.
What is the play then ? All the UFA’s are gone and my god I’m thrilled we didn’t give Korpisalo or Jarry 5 years |

Yes a young man that Went undrafted and fought for everything he's got is a quitter. Seems to me he's turned himself into a valuable player, probably better than a former 12th pick in the draft. |

Cap freeze has clearly impacted the bigger names. They seem reluctant to sign a 1 year deal. This is the year for Adams to target a couple players to carry us for the next 3 years. Clifton is a good signing. The cap increase next year and the RFA deals we need to sign are going to make it very difficult to add next year.
I’d put the following roster players on the trade block this year;
-Olofsson
-Joker
-UPL
-Bryson
