I like Clifton. Not sure what to think about the Johnson. It’s not 2015 anymore. - IndianaSabresFan
I liked both signings, but heard Clifton was a healthy scratch for the Bruins in the playoffs. Not sure if it's true?
That's not a good sign.
Seems similar to olofsson. When you need him most. You dont scratch a guy...... |

What is any GM going to say in the spot? If he were shopping for another goalie, would he admit it there? - Slump Buster
I’m not even talking about thaf comment
He’s routinely alluded to and even today basically said that he’s not going move assets if he doesn’t have to.
Nothing significant is coming because he ultimately won’t pull the trigger.

He is saying what he needs to say. Nothing is final. If it ends up that he can’t get anything done has to run with UPL he can’t be out there on the record saying he isn’t good enough. |

He’s operating exactly like Regeir did.

Sabres were a good smart organization under Darcy. It's a compliment.

This is such a bs opinion. He's not operating anything like Darcy.
Darcy's teams made the playoffs |

Nah, this is pretty much what I expected.
Looks like an 85-90 point team to me. I hope Donny doesn't take the fall because Adams refused to part with his premium Murrancy - Hank Balling
You think they lost between 1-6 pts? |

You think they lost between 1-6 pts? - Michael Ghofrani
Very possibly. I think there's a good chance for offensive regression and I don't think the moves they made are likely to offset that |

So at what point did he become "do something Darcy"? After he had already built a team that was ready for the cup. Nobody complained about his actions in 2006 when the team was on the rise. Why doesn't Adams get the same benefit of the doubt? The team is still ascending - there is an assumption that more moves automatically means that we get better faster.

Baller, you really dont like the 2 additions?
Both seem like big upgrades IMO
No more bryson or joker most likely......
What am I missing, the Sabres didnt go agaisnt everything we've learned about KA and his patience?
Maybe your expectations were falsely high? - Boss34
Connor Clifton was good enough to play 78 games on historically what was the best regular season team ever, was THE BEST (YES, THAT'S RIGHT, THE BEST) defenseman in the entire NHL in power play goals against per 60 minutes played while shorthanded, his teammates loved him, the fans loved him, he hits, he fights, has great wheels and offensive upside, but....he sucks.

Darcy had his “rules” and it ultimately bit him in the ass and he lost two of the best 1-2 punches this team has ever had at the same time.
Adams locked up a pretty damn good 1-2 punch long term. Will they be as good as? We shall see |

Lyubushkin was like their worst player. Clifton taking his spot in the lineup probably adds pts. Same with Levi over at least one of comrie/upl.
The offense will cool off for some. Id ultimately put them right now at the same 90-92 pts assuming Levi is good. |

He's probably looking for a long term deal wouldnt you think?
Like 5 for 25 million? - Boss34
Sure he probably is, but he is running out of teams that can offer that or he might take that from. Lot of rumors of Agents telling there clients to get ready for a short term deal and see what next year brings with a hopefully better Cap situation |

There's some similarities, like trading for briere/ drury and tage/ tuch.
This book isnt written yet.

Like the signing, don't think I saw anyone say he sucks. See how it goes and if he can handle 3 more minutes a night. |

Good post
I really like the signing and it wasn't a bottom barrel cheap deal. The Sabres liked Clifton, made him a priority and stole him from our arch rival.
Was a bit concerned when. I heard he was a healthy scratch in the playoffs. I'm not sure if this has been verified?

We can call it GM speak all we want but Adams has been relatively transparent |

I definitely agree the defense is improved.
If Levi misses two weeks you're looking at a UPL/Comrie (Tokarski) pairing. That could be the season right there. Or if Levi simply can't handle the workload.
Godspeed to the plan. Or maybe Gerbe is right and they're not going to do this again |

Clifton’s career average TOI is 16:59
He’s a fine player, but he’s 28 and he’s never proved he can play a big top 4 role.
Jokiharju played 22:00 + a lot of nights |
