You don't think goaltending is a pretty good sized question mark, as it stands right now? - kingcong39
Of course it is. I would have preferred that they brought in Anderson or Korpisolo but that wasn't possible. But look at the goaltending moves that are made every year. Other than the top handful of goalies, you've got nothing but question marks. Its a bigger question mark for our team because we haven't yet figured out how to play team defense. Adams could have gone out and gotten another lottery ticket in goal like he did last year. And it wouldn't matter if they were great or terrible last year because it only matters what they do this year.
This is ultimately why getting another D was the much bigger need. |

Or get better players than the one's that got you those results cause it gives you a better chance to improve on those results. - Buff36
You make it seem definitive. Like just plugging in debricat or chickenman.
The guys all support each other, I cant believe you dont see the cool buffalo sports vibe with our leaders.
They obviously are bringing off ice contributions, we all watch the games........ |

That's really it. He isn't the flashy name that some want, but there is no reason think that he isn't what we need. This is a pretty damn good roster right now and there are no obvious holes. Jesus H, isn't that a good thing? I can't wait for opening night. - Slump Buster
Goaltending
Defense looks to be upgraded, still think that's a wait and see.
Hopefully are PK is better because of Johnson and Clifton, cause that's all that changed there.

The Sabres wingers outside of Skinner/Tuch
Peterka with 10 career goals
Jordan Greenway who had 7 goals last year
Olofsson who was scratched all of the end of March and April and with the foot out the door
Then we have Girgensons and Okposo
Yes, no holes at all |

There were nights Joker was the best Dman on the ice, he just couldn't consistently put that together and the more minutes he played it tended to get worse. Clifton has never come close to playing 20min a night consistently or ever. Usually in Hockey the more experience you get and develop you get more responsibility not stay where your at unless they have reservations on adding more to your plate. - Buff36
You're getting 16 minutes a night of good defense and your upset? |

Or top 6 wing?
I can’t even take people seriously anymore on this site
The team that missed the playoffs has no holes
Holy hell - sbroads24
We have a ton of options for top 6 wing. Last offseason people complained about Adams not getting a 2C because the Cozens couldn't possibly be ready for that spot. Again, Adams was right to stay the course.

Erik Johnson is getting a $1.25M signing bonus on his deal with Buffalo.
Betting that helped.
Any other team offer that? - kingcong39
No one else offered 3.25m either. That’s why I call BS on his he chose Buffalo over 5 other teams. He chose money over little to no money |

Mitts will be playing top 6 on the wing with Quinn out, Krebs will move into 3C. |

You said all of the same things last offseason and we finished near the top of the leaguer in scoring. If I didn't have you to tell me that this is a bad roster, I wouldn't have known.

I’d give Donny partial credit for Cozens working and give Cozens most of the credit. He didn’t rest. Played worlds, work on his game all summer. Got him self ready |

Vibes only last so long when a team continues to miss the playoffs.
Think the vibes will be tip top if they miss the playoffs again?
Relationships become strained when there is no more progress, as stagnation or regression often craters feelings.
Playoffs are an extremely important goal for this season.
You may not think so, but you are a fan, and the players are incredibly competitive athletes, who at the end of the day only care about winning. |

Erik Johnson has earned $73 million dollars in his career.
More went into his decision to pick Buffalo. |

Dude seriously this is getting ridiculous. They have no options for top 6 scoring outside of a guy they are actively trying to trade
Greenway - never scored 20 goals
Mittelstadt- never scored 20 goals
Peterka - has 10 career goals and isn’t projected to be a great goal scorer
Kulich - 19 years old and 0 NHL games
Jost - Not a goal scorer
Krebs - not a goal scorer
They now absolutely need a goal scorer |

If anything, I’d bolster our roster with more grit, defensive forwards. We still had the worst PK in the league and couldn’t win a FO to save our lives. I agree on the scoring and I think Mitts is just getting going. We need more character players on lines 3,4 |

Well, sure, the organization deserves credit. The jury is still out on UPL, but the org has been right about giving the kids room to grow for 2 years. If the "do something now" crowd was listened to the last 2 offseasons, you don't get the growth that we got (and quite likely we would have given some of the kids up for scraps).
And ultimately all of the female dogging comes down to 4th line wingers and backup goalie. This is a really good roster other than those spots, and the 4th line is actually decent. And yes, the offseason isn't over yet.

Yes I watch the games and I watched a team battle and miss the playoffs by 1 point. I am not gonna even blame the goalies
I- Are PK wasn't very good, sure let's bring back both guys that helped there
2- I watched Girgensons and Okposo fumble pass after pass and miss golden opportunities that probably could have won us a few more games, but hey 1 point
3- I watch my young kids get pushed around and the so called Lion Eater either puts a paw on the shoulder and blows sweet nothings into the guys ear or he skates away.
4- There were better players available then Zemgus Girgensons. |

Greenway should help with PK and grit, and Mitts' numbers on the PK at the later half of last year were good.

Because one person wanted Malkin he’s making a sweeping generalization
Literally the Sabres holes have been the same for years now and with an unlucky injury another one opened. |

No I am not, as usual you miss the point. If they increase his minutes to 20 am I still getting the same Defense out of him, if not he's no better than Joker. |
