Dude seriously this is getting ridiculous. They have no options for top 6 scoring outside of a guy they are actively trying to trade
Greenway - never scored 20 goals
Mittelstadt- never scored 20 goals
Peterka - has 10 career goals and isn’t projected to be a great goal scorer
Kulich - 19 years old and 0 NHL games
Jost - Not a goal scorer
Krebs - not a goal scorer
They now absolutely need a goal scorer - sbroads24
Holy S, are you kidding? How many times do we have to have the "team building is not transactional" conversation? We led the freaking league in goal scoring for much of last year. Quinn didn't exactly light it up last year. I don't think it is that much to ask someone else to replicate his goals. And yes, it is quite likely that JJ and Mitts (and even Krebs) to make a jump. They all continue to get better, this is the point that you keep missing.

That was a head scratcher. Decent depth, if they need it.

Who is going to take FO’s? Clifton? - lulags
And now we have reached the part of the program where people pretend that faceoffs matter.

Maybe? He joined a roster with 8 other NHL defensemen (I can't stand Bryson, but regardless) - Powerslave
Well, for full transparency, he joined a team with 4 other NHL defensemen, assuming Clifton signed first |

I thought we were told faceoffs don't matter. Wasn't that the topic last week?
(I agree w you, BTW. about the faceoffs). |

Well, sure, the organization deserves credit. The jury is still out on UPL, but the org has been right about giving the kids room to grow for 2 years. If the "do something now" crowd was listened to the last 2 offseasons, you don't get the growth that we got (and quite likely we would have given some of the kids up for scraps).
And ultimately all of the female dogging comes down to 4th line wingers and backup goalie. This is a really good roster other than those spots, and the 4th line is actually decent. And yes, the offseason isn't over yet. - Slump Buster
That's one way to look at it.
The other is that they probably need a real starting goalie because the one they have sharpied in to start is 21 and has never played 45 games in a season |

It is a massive stat and value. Especially on special teams, including PK where we struggled more than all but two basement teams |

Yes, now also subtract 28 goals from Olofsson on his way out, and probably take into account regression from Tage/Tuch/Skinner as it’s more than likely they take a step back albeit a small one.
Oh and Adams said they were in on forward’s yesterday so your boy more than likely agrees with me thaf they have a hole there |

The Sabres wingers outside of Skinner/Tuch
Peterka with 10 career goals
Jordan Greenway who had 7 goals last year
Olofsson who was scratched all of the end of March and April and with the foot out the door
Then we have Girgensons and Okposo
Yes, no holes at all - sbroads24
Adding conviction equals 750+ team goals while reducing GA by 74099990572629;q |

All of a sudden Goalofsson has a bunch of fans on here! 28 goals is hard to replace. |

And the same things were said when Eichel and Reinhart left town. "Where is the goal scoring going to come from?". It came, but the transactional thinking persists.
"Not needing to fill holes" is not the same thing as "always looking to upgrade". If he wasn't still out there having conversations then he wouldn't be doing his job. No GM ever stops having conversations.

thats what happens when the goalposts keep moving. Goaloffson presumed absence is now a loss, and we're apparently suffering because our faceoff win % is a fraction of a point lower than average.

Just so we’re clear here -
You think we’re good at forward
You think Clifton is a top 4 D or can handle it
You’re ok if they roll with UPL-Levi
So basically in summation, you think this could be the entire offseason and you’d be fine with it.
Man, how easily I predicted all the Adams Army would immediately back off the “now is the time” and “big summer” comments. |

Halak is out there, almost meets the age requirements, maybe we could get a waiver on age. |

Am I fine with it? Sure, I am *fine*. I don't love going back in with UPL but otherwise I think that this is a very good roster with several players who haven't hit their ceiling yet. I can call a spade a spade - he has by no means hit a home run. He could have gone out and gotten your whole wish list and it could have sucked. The point is, we don't know how all of this is going to work out.
And also, the season doesn't start for 3 months. Your favorite gm didn't make a single move until July 8th last year.

Just looking at his stats, he has been a quality backup for a long time. I didn't realize that he was 38.

Hearing that Victor Olofsson and his 28 goals have been theoretically traded, but only to help fit a narrative.
Thank you for your service, VO.

Achilles injuries are widow makers. I’m pretty much banking on Quinn never being good again. Really sucks for me since I was the only one on here that wanted the Sabres to draft him. |
