Listen, I hate revisionist history more than anyone.
What we cannot do- is claim Adams has great foresight predicting Tage would be good, patting him on the back for being patient with guys (you did this yesterday) then in the same breathe excuse him for not knowing guys like Ullmark and Montour etc were actually good.
Sabres need a middle pairing RD and a goalie. That’s the facts - sbroads24
Adams said he offered to match Ullmark's deal with Boston and Ullmark declined. Montour told him he didn't want to be here. What was he supposed to do?
They absolutely need a 4D and probably a goalie, although if we get the right D I think the goalie is less important. If he doesn't do it by the end of the summer, I'll be killing him as well. He will, there is too much smoke out there. Right now it seems that only the crappy players are moving. I bet that changes next week.

He wanted way too much money / term from us. I liked the guy just fine, but I am not going to pay a tax to keep him. It's not even a "wants to be here" kind of thing - he wanted too much from us, so let him walk. - Slump Buster
Do you Understand that they could have signed him to a longer term contract when he was a RFA instead of 1yr and walk him into FA and give him his own choice. Do you understand Ullmark was frustrated with the Sabres over his Contract and what happened when he was a RFA. He threw a change up at Adams and used him, remember it's a Business too and Ullmark played the game. |

It wasn't great asset management, just as they screwed up not getting others under contract. That said, he was still just a guy at that point. Never played more than 37 games and never had more than 17 wins. I agree, they should have signed him earlier. If that is Adams fault, shame on him. I don't know how much the other guy played into the decision since he was apparently running things.

This isn’t our responsibility to figure out.
He was the GM when guys wanted to leave.
He chose to rebuild which led to guys not wanting to be a part of that.
There’s nothing deeper here. He needs to fill the needs |

If they 'wanted him to be here', they don't offer 1 year @ 2.6m - Lunaion
Wasn’t that the 1st year adams got here? And he was hurts constantly for years before that?
All new GM’s want to bring in there own guys. See the bills. Beane traded that OL to cleveland that went on the be a all pro. Cant win them all |

So you're saying that rebuilding was the wrong thing to do? Yes, he was the GM at the end of that sh** show. It reminds me of what is going on in Calgary right now. The mess was created by someone else - is it the fault of the current GM that people want out?
Anyway, it's a pointless debate. Ullmark went to a fantastic defensive team and had one pretty good year and one fantastic year. Good for him. Again, I would have liked to have kept him.

I’m saying nothing of the sort.
This isn’t a referendum on anyone or anything.
You’re taking this discussion too literally
It is 100% absolutely fair to question why Ullmark wasn’t retained. Montour less so, but him not wanting to stay was the Sabres own doing.

Fair enough, thank you for the explanation.
Hopefully stuff starts to happen soon and we forget all about that time. We got past Drury/Briere, this too shall pass.

When Adams gets a top 4 D (I think he does) and a starting goalie (less sure he does) then those critics disappear.
Until he does it’s fair game imo.
Nothing more. Nothing less.

It worries me that the scrub defenseman went for a high second. That is frightening.

I think he’s like a Shayne Gostisbehere. A 2nd for a PP QB isn’t ideal but not horrible.
Not what we need obviously |

You're thinking Anderson and Dell were his guys? Anderson played 4 games the pervious season. |

Didn't they offer Tage a 3 year deal in October of 2020, the same month they signed Ullmark to that one year deal, when Tage had just as many questions around him as Ullmark had? |

Also had a save percentage in his last 2 seasons on the Sabres that many of us would kill to see a Sabre goaltender have. |

How much is Briere going to retain on Hayes deal with 3 seasons remaining on it?
Lots of movement today. With STL/PHI putting finishing touches on Hayes deal, it sounds like Winnipeg is working hard on moving one of their big available guys. Some traction on PLD. Something to keep tabs on. #GoJetsGo

DeMelo to Buffalo - Buff36
(frank) outta here with this...!!
This trade that the @NHLFlyers are pulling off is going to be huge. Hearing several names from the NHL roster involved. Hold your horses people.
As soon as I have specifics, I PROMISE I will share.
But let's just say, the @NHLFlyers blue line is gonna look a hell of a lot different next year.
Kyrou is a name I’m hearing as possibly being involved in the deal…
