I could see that, especially since he didn't cost much. If the reports are true, he strongly prefers players that are in a certain age. I get it, hopefully there are exceptions.

But the bigger point is trying to understand the female dogging. Regardless of how we got here (trades or draft), this is a pretty damn good roster as it is even today before the expected moves.

There is a lot of talent on this roster for sure. But it is no where near a complete roster

wow, do you think he even believes that, those corporate communication lessons are paying off.

Unbalanced in the same way the prospect pool is.

Like I was initially hammering. They have a job to do on the ice, they've done it, but half that celery is for mentorship, which is indeed important, personally and especially to them.

Why managements plan is to go into next year with, hope things improve vs actually making the necessary moves to improve.

Softness in the roster is due to Adams acting soft as GM. All these fluff pressers and saying things are hard, so much time invested and he hasn't even made the playoffs.

- washedup20

Thank you for the response. He laid back the last 2 offseasons and we had huge jumps in points. Should he have moved kids then to get closer to the playoffs?

So who should be the ones to go? Again, the 4th line is locked in. I am not asking you to do Adams job, I am asking you for an example of the kind of moves that you think Adams should be making beyond 4d and goalie.

The only move I would have liked was Toffoli

Him on the 3rd line with Greenway/Krebs and Mitts would give the Sabres 3 really solid scoring lines.

- Stripes77

Toffoli is just a rental. If I am Adams I am not settling for a rental in June. I would much rather see a trade for a guy who can be part of the team longterm. If nothing pans out, find a rental in late July.

Agreed. A lot of fast skilled forwards without any real size and almost not defensemen.

Where they were a few years ago, I completely understand drafting for speed and skill, now it's time to round out the roster.

I would be happy with a top 4 D man with some size and sandpaper and a goalie to split with Levi (or play more than him).

See what that team looks like this year, make the playoffs and see what they need to add. I will be very annoyed if the roster looks exactly the same as last years team come Monday.

Who do you move up for if not for Michkov? Keep in mind the Sabres have eyes and access within Russia which is apparently a rare commodity.

This might be a dumb question but how much would it cost to move up in the draft?

13 + 2nd + mid round pick?

I forgot how the NHL works lol

That rental fills a lot of voids on the front end, with the prospect pool and the investment in temporary 4th line leadership, he had value to bring.

Going back to what Adams said the other day about not being afraid to make tough choices, he had to have been talking about Michkov. I bet any name other than Kulich is fair game.

The roster isn't soft. IDK what it is with hockey people thinking the solution to every problem is more toughness.

The team had a chimpanzee in goal most nights. Young (or even rookie) defensemen playing virtually all the important minutes.

Get a goalie and 1-2 D and the team is good. Some oaf who hits people won't change a thing.

Fitz has said before that he doesn't trade for rentals and I saw somewhere that toffoli is open to an extension

So it could be a trade and sign

You're in the majority there, if its this hard now to build a competitive roster, how hard will decisions be when the roster is contending and the cap is an added issue.

They really like him, but so does 2/3 of the league. My best guess for tonight is either Moore, Perreault or Simashev.

Saw a some tweets yesterday pointed out skilled F's without term/team control are going cheap, D and grit are going for a premium. Not the greatest position for KA, but he has cap space, picks, and prospects. Opportunity is right now.

I think crybaby is a better look than a bootlicker but to each their own.

I’d be a pig in poop and would be praising Adams up and down if he were to land Pesce today.

- sbroads24

I'm not happy about a conservative management group, I'm just saying:

Why get your expectations up, when you know exactly what is going to happen?

We are at 13 forwards including olofsson right?

Have a full 7 nhl defenseman

And 3 goalies.

I might be a footlocker, but I'm realistic.

You're crushing yourself for no reason. Relax and try and enjoy the foundation this team has built.

Seriously, it's still june.

Could be, but then it's probably what? 7mill AAV for 4-5 years?

As much as everyone loves the type of player he is on ice, I don't think he makes any sense for the sabres.

Good wingers always go for very little. Pavel Buchnevich is literally a better Tuch and he went for a 2nd rounder and 4th liner when he was dealt.

Getting this team a goalie and a top 4 D and the Sabres make the playoffs but probably get absolutely destroyed in the first round of the playoffs. Maybe not on the scoreboard but physically beaten up. Cozens, Greenway, and the 4th line minus Krebs would be fine but the rest of the forward group will look like a deer in the headlights. Think Tampa where they couldn't win in the playoffs. Nothing wrong with that for this year, but the team needs some sandpaper and grit eventually.

Hockey people as in the GM of the team admitting the team gets bullied or what type of hockey people are you referring to?

I don't get why he's doing it. All he's going to say is "we'll do anything that helps the team now and in the future" 15 different ways

Doesnt every GM take questions prior to the draft? like its part of the job...
