It's not going to sink in no matter how many times or ways you try to explain it to some of these guys...I'm with you. KA is doing what he can without costing the future and taking baby step to ensure we have a strong core. I "trust the process" which will not be finished this season...period. Don't like it, find another team. - hammatoe

Come on, it should not take 3yrs to fix your Goaltending or your D. |

The bigger point is, Adams has a plan and he is sticking to it. Ultimately he will be judge on if he won a cup or not.

Yes you can, if you actually try to. Drafting players in the 5th or 6th round is never for sure - Buff36
Neither is the 1st or second.
He got a solid Russian d-man that dropped to the 5th or whatever cause hes russian.
Hes gotten crazy value on most of his picks. Some are reaches but that happens.

He signed like 4+ guys for the AHL last offseason. We saw Clauge and he was not the problem. (How do you blame a 2-way guy)
He's drafted guys and has now signed them.
He signed Johnson. Who he did not draft (I think)
The "pipeline" has been dramatically improved from where it was. - DirtyDan
The D pipeline is Johnson + a 4th, 5th, and 6th rounder from the last 2 years.
Depth guys who clear waivers are just fillers. The pipeline is extremely weak.

Yes with the Russian and him and Johnson are basically really it. And that Russian would have gone a lot higher if teams weren't afraid of him not signing. |

Again, they let the kids play. We don't find out about them if they don't play. Bryson isn't more than a 6 or 7D on a good team. UPL - as a rookie - didn't play well for large stretches of last year. How else do you find out if they can play? Some of you probably want to scream "we knew Bryson wasn't good enough". Well, sure, and we all knew that Mitts was never going to pan out either. They have been incredibly patient with their prospects. That was their plan for "filling out the roster". |

So to make it clear you want to go all in and trade for Erik Karlsson, got it.

We trade the two second and Mitts for something like pick 15. Do you make that trade? |

This whole "he didn't fix the D" narrative is really an indictment of Bryson not being who we hoped he would be. Joker was 4D and he was fine. Boosh (a guy we did acquire) was fine on the bottom pair. Bryson didn't take the jump as 5D. If that's the big weakness.... ok.
We had a bunch Larrys that were forced to play after that, and most weren't good. Not sure why Pilut couldn't get a look. - Slump Buster
You keep saying these guys were “fine”. They were not.
Boosh was terrible all season. Jokiharju was overwhelmed as a #4. Bryson was absolutely brutal.
Samuelsson routinely gets injured. They didn’t do enough at defense and they were never “fine”. |

When KA took over, he had Samuelsson, Johnson, Bryson (a 4th), Fitz (a 3rd), Laaksonen (a 3rd) all in the system plus a handful of mid to late round misses. Pipeline was pretty good at that point.

Nope because at 15 you’re getting a Mitts like player hopefully, 2 years away
There are several Samuelson like players that wil be available in the 2nd, and I want more/any of those |

I didn't say it was good, I said it was *fine*. We didn't have he goaltending or D to play the firewagon style of hockey that we wanted to play. We saw how it played out and now we have the answers on those players. Again, things got ugly when the injuries hit. Its funny how nobody was complaining about the D when we were punching people in the face. That losing streak in the fall killed us.

Adams was going to offer $5,000,001 and a lake front condo, I’m surprised he didn’t wait to see that. |

No if the Sabres do that, I will be very irate, because that means they are trading for futures instead of present |

Fair points. My reason for *maybe* doing it is that 15 this year isn't the same as it is in other years. I think we're hoping for a Cousins-like player at that spot. They reclaimed Mitts to the point where he is probably a decent 3rd-line player. Sammy went at the top of the 2nd, right? Guys in the mid-second are unlikely to be impact players (or even play in the league). |

Fair enough, but to be fair, the 2nds are also futures. I should probably have qualified that by saying that if we traded Mitts that it would make a spot on the wing for a guy in free agency. If we were to move him we would absolutely need to replace him.

🤔🤔🤔
As #preds attempt to make a splash as #NHLDraft hosts, lots of chatter that goaltender Yaroslav Askarov is in play.
Askarov was the 11th overall pick in 2020, coming off a real solid first season with AHL Milwaukee.

Well, sure. As was pointed out yesterday, one of the benefits of saying everything stinks all of the time is that invariably you can look back on something and be semi-right.
