Tried to look at options at 22 today. The #1 seems like a sure thing, looks like a great group to go Top 9 and a likely Top 15 and then could be significant variance off the BPA list.
This group ended up 16-22 on my list.
Musty
Simashev
Gulyayev
Willander
Brindley
But
Heidt
Of these, who would you want to be available at 22?

well taking Patrick was the GM's fault was it not? Yes Clarke was blameless as he has nothing to do with the draf that Hextall conducted.
the 20 minute tirade was like a miute and a half - hello it's me 2050
https://www.yahoo.com/vid...ting-makar-021222670.html
Hextall made the decision, that was his job, and was also never in dispute. No need to paint himself as a pariah (I wasn't consulted, nobody wanted him! If Clarke had been consulted the Flyers would've been in the finals by now apparantly) No need really to elaborate on the process of selecting him beyond that. If Patrick had panned out as projected by just about everyone or Makar hadn't hit his ceiling, and any prognostication of the utter failure he became is hindsight, Clarke wouldn't have said a word.
Yes, it ended up being a bad pick but he didn't go off the board to make it.
Also, as far as i know, nobody has confirmed Clarke's story and Hextall doesn't talk about it (because what is the point getting into a pissing match? Nobody wins) so there's only one narrative out there.
Everyone always forgets that Clarke mentioned more than just the Patrick pick in his cataloging of Hexy's failures.
I'm sure i will be waiting until my grave before i hear a minute and half exposition on Fletcher's failures from Clarke.

I love when people bring up Hextall and the Hextall defenders bring up Fletcher. Like they both don’t just suck in their own right |

McDonald already has a pro body at 6'4" 215lbs, he is not going to be flying around the ice, so comparing his to a 5'8" player is not useful. McDonald is well on his way to having high potential to be an NHL player. He plays his position well, uses his size and reach well and skate well enough. Borgesi will never get a sniff at the NHL given his size and the position he plays. - jd250
Why isn’t he signed yet? He’s 21. Full grown. What’s to do in college?

Johansen trade pretty much proves hayes is an upside down contract. Flyers will be giving if they want to get rid of him. Makes sense now hearing briere talk him up about being around next year. - Just5
Unless they plan to take an even pooptier contract back in return it's probably headed to a buyout.

I’m against that. I think there’s a way to tuck him away in LHV without turning briere into a villain across the league. He can basically help sharp down there at 10x the salary. Not a tough life |

Hayes? He is not going to LHV, and if he did, there might be a NHLPA lawsuit against the flyers |

He can't maintain The Standard as an example to the next generation of Flyers -- that's one of the main reasons why they're trying so hard to get rid of him. Stashing him in LHV is a nightmare scenario on so many levels. |

I agree that it's highly unlikely that he would be waived and sent down to the AHL. Just curious, on what grounds would there be for a lawsuit from the NHLPA? |

I don’t know. Wade redden played two years and didn’t seem to mind it. Hayes has that personality where it might work for him |

I have no idea. I just know that it would absolutely not be accepted by the players union for a player that can clearly contribute at the NHL level, with multiple years left, be buried in the AHL. It’s not like he’s 36 and on his way out. He’s a legit player. It wouldn’t fly. |

I think they'd be more worried about him being a bad influence on the kids than whether or not he'd enjoy life in the AHL. |

The NHLPA would have no leg to stand on. There is no rule in the CBA to prevent it. It's not going to happen but there are no grounds for a lawsuit or grievance. The only thing the Flyers are responsible for is to honor the contract and to pay him his salary. He does not have a NMC so it would be completely legit. |
