what do you expect the Kraken to do this summer? You guys had a very good year last season. Are they going for the cup next season?

I think Francis will keep building the team in his image. I don't expect any bombshells ala Vegas. Lots of cap space, but I don't think he will be going after any superstars. They are set in goal. They could actually just stand pat and just keep developing naturally. There is no rush at all.

Again, I think he will build this team in his image. No major superstars, although Dunn could kinda be considered that, but just a team of very good, hard working players with grit. And he will have the ability to make whichever adjustment he sees fit with the cap flexibility if an absolute winner of a trade/deal appears. And I'll take that every day of the week over a team with 2-4 stars, and a bunch of crap to fill the rest of the roster out. They've been a pleasure of a team to watch so far!

noice, thanks for your anwser

will be interesting to see what they will do with Wright, even if I think fans tend to expect too much out of 18 years old kids. They saw Crosby and Mcdavid and dont realize the gap

Indeed!

I have no doubt Slafkovsky will end up being the overall superior player. I see Wright being a 50-60 point guy overt his career. And nothing wrong with that. Just a little underwhelming for a first overall.

But again, I'll take a team with 7 or 8, 50-60 point forwards, over 2 to 3, 100pt forwards and a bunch of 20-30 point players to round everything else out. IMO, that will be the model for building a winning team in the short to not to distant future. Much harder to stop 7-8 people than just shutting down two or three.

Depth is huge to win the cup, agree on that. That does not mean you cant have a few stars or 1 or 2 superstars but it cant hurt your overall depth in a cap world.

I like what Vegas did having 3 good duos and some pieces here and there to play with them, And they add a strong group of 6 d, so they ran with their carrousels of goalies. They all did well with that defense and group of forwards in front of them.

If the Canadiens ever wanted to go the offer sheet route this summer (a *big* if), they would most likely need to get this pick back first at certain tiers.

But the symba-doctrine dictates that they don't matter, or even count, if Montreal isn't involved

I agree, and it obviously worked as they got a cup out of it. The only thing is, because of some of the moves they have made, unless they are really luck out or do some insanely shrewd management, I have a feeling their window will close sooner rather than later. But, still, they got the cup! (frank)ers!

its hard to repeat with the cap

look at Colorado. They lost a lot of depth (injuries, departures, weird russian contoversy), the key to win it all.

Chicago never won again after they paid their stars huge money

but at least they had 3 cups by that time
