heh.
I'm tired.
Or maybe, I know you hate HuGo, so I thought I would try something else.

actually this isn't the first time you spell it like that... I ain't gonna use that version either for sure but I do sort of like it better, it's as though it's self-aware that it's a dumb and awkward expression.

I use HuGo more because I feel like this is a team effort from management, not top down like how MB seemed to do things. Adding the extra layer of Gorton seems to have kept Molson in the background and the people who need to do things are getting things done.
I use HuGo because if I had to work everyone's initials into it it would end up worse than HoGo. |

it's all good, I get it. personally I feel it's a bit unnecessary since it's clear to me Hughes isn't simply Gorton's puppet, he's the team's GM and brings his own set of strategies and input to the table, working alongside an executive vice-president like in many other organizations in the league.
but yeah I'm not denying that Gorton is playing an important role as well, and it makes me think that Bergevin could've used a guy like him to keep him in check on certain decisions lol. |

Having someone putting a stop to MB's bad impulse control / panic mode would have helped in some of those contracts, for sure. But enough about him....
It feels strange to have competent people running the organization and being excited (and hopeful) to see what they do in the off season, almost as much as seeing how the kids on the ice will improve in the next season.
Team is losing, but I quite frankly do not care right now... well, I do at about the 60 game mark because it can be tiring watching some of those games with all the injuries we have had.
Hopefully the injury things and rehab is fixed.

yeah, I'm among the very rare ones here who didn't completely hate MB and don't need any therapy today because of the trauma caused today by his tenure, but anyway lol.
I agree with you this management team is looking very solid so far, the combination of Gorton's team-building perspective and Hughe's considerable experience as a player agent is a very interesting one. yes the team is losing right now but you can tell St-Louis knows how to motivate the group and have them give a consistent effort.
and no, the injury situation definitely can't stay like this, if they beat another league record in man-games lost I'm gonna freak the (frank) out. I'm very curious to see what this group could do if everyone stays healthy, there's still a lot of work to be done but I think it's a nice foundation to build off of. |

I have said this a few times - injuries will happen. Nothing you can do about it.
However, you can mitigate a lot of those with proper training and education about caring for your body all year round so you are ready for the season - not sure the Habs did a lot of that over the last 15+ years.
But the other side is the medical procedures and rehab, making sure a player is actually ready yo play and not walking around in a boot cast only to throw them into the lineup.
Yes, it is on the medical staff, but also on the players to know better.

this. Gallagher admitted himself he has a tendency to brush things off when it comes to talking about his health, sure he wants to play as much as possible but he can't be very helpful to the team if he makes an existing injury even worse after lying about it and telling the medical staff he feels totally fine.

Gallagher will be waived this coming season… He is broken and Habs are better with RHP in the lineup.

put him on waivers? I know Gallagher isn't what he used to be but why the (frank) would they do that lol... besides if there's one guy that could bring his game up a notch and get a bit closer to his former self it's definitely him, you know he's gonna work his ass off and do everything he can to achieve that.

I'm really hoping he manages to stay healthy and continues to contribute and help out with the kids' development until the end of his contract, I know LTIR is definitely a possibility for him with all the injuries he's accumulated over the years but that would suck for a player with so much heart and determination.
and enough with the injuries, they've had more players hurt during the last 2 years than most teams have throughout the span of 4 or 5 years lol. |

Gallagher is, at times, his own worst enemy - coming back before he is fully healthy more than once, only to go out for longer a few games later.
This is the poop the Habs medical team and management has to put and end to happening.
I love Gallagher - his desire to play and compete hard - but this stupidity has to stop.

I think Gally is now starting to understand this more, he needs to manage his intensity better and take better care of his health if he wants to stick around longer in the league. |
