Oh.

And PLD is going to be a King, with a sign and trade.

So can we finally move on from this?

- Mashadar

while I'm not desperately hoping the habs manage to sign him, it would kinda suck after all this (frank)ing time of talking about it if he just lands in LA lol.

I still kinda believe he was using the Habs to get more money elsewhere.

Just a feeling... maybe because we have seen that before...

well, it isn't like it was Bergevin on the habs' side just waiting for him with a signed blank cheque... if Hughes is being strategic he surely didn't make a crazy offer, so in the end it probably isn't giving all that much extra leverage to PLD.

Yeah, if teams are willing to pay big in assets and then big in salary, I am fine with him being elsewhere. Would be a totally different story if this was 3-4 years from now and the Habs were only missing 1 or 2 pieces to go far in the playoffs.

Just not worth it right now.

bah, I get what you're saying but he literally just turned 25 (I just noticed his bday is on june 24th lol), he's surely got many solid years in front of him, so the timing isn't an issue at all imho.

It has nothing to do with PLD or his age.

It has to do with the costs to get him on the team - both in assets (given what the Kings are apparently willing to offer) and the cap impacts.

Gotta remember too, all those kids coming up at once are going to need new contracts all around the same time in a few years, too. So while we may have the cap space now, we might have issues down the line.

The reality is the Habs do not need PLD today.

3-4 years down the line, they may need a player like that.

depends what pieces mtl would have to trade away and how much Dubois would want to be here long term

he may pull a Brière and sign for a better team, just to come in mtl around 35 ys old

I completely disagree, PLD would instantly make the habs a better team, and that's never a bad thing. why wait?

the only real issue I would have is if they parted ways with some of their best prospects to acquire him, in which case it wouldn't really be a huge progress for the organization moving forward... anyway I don't see Hughes selling the farm for him or whatever so I'm not worried about this one bit.

yeah, (frank) that, I want to have the player's prime years, not a little goodbye farewell retirement tour in MTL lol.

The deal is suppose to be multiple players/pieces going to Winnipeg if this gets done, including Gabe Vilardi and Alex Iafallo.

Habs are not in a position to give up some of their better prospects.

Does that answer your question as to why I am fine if he goes elsewhere?

oh I understand what you're saying, but like I said I don't see habs management giving away potentially crucial parts of the team's future to get him, so for me that's a non-issue. not sure what the deal that's been coming from MTL looks like exactly but they're not gonna shoot themselves in the foot.

On another note... just went outside for the first time today to get some veggies from the garden. What a cluster (frank) of smoke out there... it is not just high up, you can see the smoke right at ground level.

Holy (frank) it is terrible.

Also, just read, the Montreal and surrounding areas supposedly have the worst air index in the world right now, too.

Good times.

Just hang fresh salmon from a clothes line out back and it will be smoked fairly fast.

Why would anyone trade for him without an extension?

Seems stupid.

yeah, the smoke is pretty thick here too, kinda gives the impression the fire isn't very far away... there's people that had just been given the green light to get back in their homes that are being evacuated once again. it (frank)ing sucks so bad.

It is ok.

Climate change is not real and the earth is flat, so all this smoke will eventually just fall off the edge.

climate change deniers, that's another group of people I never understood, wtf. I guess some aspects could be debatable, like how quickly exactly we're (frank)ing everything up, and how much time we have left if nothing significantly changes, but the bottom line is we're pretty much a malignant parasite for this planet right now, it ain't good loll.

Hopefully I will be long dead before this get terrible.

Don''t have kids, so whatever at this point.

I no longer have the energy to get angry or want to fight these money pigs grasping to keep their oil and coal monopolies, regardless of what it is doing to the planet and humanity.

Feel sorta bad for the kids today, but I am gonna die soon enough.

anyway, personally there's so much poop that makes me angry on a daily basis, I hope I do eventually grow tired of it and make way for a healthy dose of indifference lol
