While current management is really tight lipped around here, I never got the feeling they were desperate to get this deal done. More of a "nice if it happens, but not going to screw up my prospects pool or cap space" feel to it.

this is also the feeling I'm getting, and to be honest it makes a ton of sense, Hughes and Gorton have just started the rebuild process, there's absolutely no need to make any panic moves to try to fill an urgent gap or something, and their jobs are definitely not on the line right now

yeah, it would've been nice to add that kind of player to the habs' current roster but the deal has to make sense, in terms of both the salary structure and what you have to give up prospect-wise.
