Boston needs to clear cap, so not surprising to see some of these guys go.

Hmm Bruins fans touted their great depth because they had a Hart winner on the 3rd line... Welp you run into cap problems with a Hart winner on your 3rd line

When you run into cap problems, having luxury of expensive depth becomes problematic.

The Habs are lucky, their cap situation is pretty good, so they are not forced to sacrifice their depth by trading Hoffman. Team will be better as a result.

Frank Seravalli
@frank_seravalli

Full trade, per sources:

To #NHLBruins: Rights to RFAs Ian Mitchell and Alec Regula.

To #Blackhawks: Taylor Hall, rights to UFA Nick Foligno.

No salary retained by Boston, this represents a pure salary dump to clear $6 million off Bruins' books.

I think Boston wanted to have the extra contract off the books even ifhe is a UFA in a less than a week, to have flex for other trades.

Dangle your Hoffman in the privacy of your own home.... even if you need a cockring.

yes I knew they were looking to clear some cap space obviously but I though DeBrusk was going to be the one. maybe they are not done yet.

Joke aside… The only way we can get rid of Hoffman is to retain half the salary and add a 3rd round pick…

No one is going to take on Bergevin’s anchor…

Hoffman is not going anywhere, maybe a desperate team at the TDL that has lots of injuries, but otherwise they will ride it out. They are not going to trade assets to get rid of players and they do not have a cap problem that forces action.

This time next year, like we are doing now with Drouin, counting down the last few days he is part of the team.

I think the challenge is the spot he takes away from a kid…. Maybe they will waive him…

I think there is a higher chance Dvorak is gone by camp, he can be useful to a team needing depth at center.

I am not sure there is a team that needs an over priced 3rd line winger. And I just do nto see the Habs eating salary or trading assets to make that happen.
