My guess is bottom six.
- paulr

I would guess middle six. I'm hard pressed to name six forwards who would ensure that he doesn't see any time on the second line.

According to Dreger Toronto 1st (28 overall) in play for player or additional picks. 44 +55 get it done?
- Revco38

I would do that deal from Chicago's perspective but Toronto may want something different. Maybe something along the lines of #35 and #67.

Interesting. Trying to get back into PLD sweepstakes? Newhook + ??? to WPG? Or maybe Dach + to WPG?

Bit of an overpay which is why I think it may be part of something bigger.

I’d like to see them get another forward on a two or three year deal, maybe JT Compher, Domi, or Garland, or somebody of that ilk. They still won’t make the playoffs and will get a decent pick in ‘24(probably around 10th overall). If they really want a top five pick, then sign C Jones and play him 20 minutes a night.
Edit- TBH, I’m a huge Toews fan and if healthy I’d love to sign him for a couple of years and have him retire as a Hawk.

- Angotti

I don't expect KD to do much on July 1st, other than possibly Compher. I think he may wait a while and let the dust settle, then go short 1 or 2-year deals on who he likes is left. For some reason I wouldn't be surprised if a guy like Lars Eller winds up here.

I don't think Boston has much to offer other then roster players. Most of their picks are late rounders

I have no idea on their prospect pool.

- Rota's Rooter

The prospect pool for Boston is:

Fabian Lysell
Mason Lohrei
Brandon Bussi

End of list

Good point, I was thinking where he was slotted in Boston.

Until or if those draft picks make it into the NHL Montreal made the better deal.

I’m thinking that he’s not hanging on to both of those picks, I’m sure he has another move coming.

You pray that he can play with more intensity...a possible second line set up man at wing or centre but if he doesn't intensify, he is a 3rd liner...he is not as good a prospect as FLA Anton Lundell, a far better C prospect.
- wiz1901

He doesn't seem to fit what they have said they are looking for in draftees. They want high compete levels along with talent.

Easy now, Grasshopper. The club is still in semi tank mode and a Celebrini or Eiserman next yr would make this club a serious contender in 5 yrs.

Insulate Bedard and allow him Vlasic and Kaiser to develop properly and the yr is a success.

- Mr Ricochet

Dead on, imo. I think we'll see mid to low level vets sign here looking for a chance to be flipped to a contender. Also guys needing to "prove it" for their next deal. The picks they get then can be a "next wave" of talent ready to help 5+ years from now.

An energy guy, who I saw a few times is Easton Cowen of the London Knights. Not a big guy at 5’10 170 but he doesn’t back down from anyone . Apparently he started to find a bit of a scoring touch late into the season and into the playoffs. I remember him as a quick skater who engaged in puck battles, was a pest in front of the net and was at the center of after whistle scrums and threw his body around with no concern about who he was hitting. Reminded me of a certain number 65.
- paulr

Sounds like a Kd guy. Maybe take him after 35.

My guess is he going to use those picks and Girard to try to get himself a big forward.

Add Mitchell and Regula to the pile.
Forsling, Rutta, Kempny, Leddy, Boqvist, Jokiharju, etc…

- Ztra

Wow, Forsling, Rutta and Leddy have proven to be pretty solid NHL defensemen and I believe all 3 have played regular top 4 shifts on Stanley Cup contenders.

While they won't be going to the HOF, they're far from failures.

I get that, but my comment had the current state of the team factored in. I would expect him to see some time, but not regular time, playing with top 6 players on this team. Plus there will be more than three plugs who keep him from seeing much 4th line time, if any.

How many? How many 18 year olds are a captain of a ship?

18 year olds follow orders that's what they do even if they say they won't in the military

- BetweenTheDots

Just watched some WW2 history about D Day last night. The future existence of democracy and the free world was put in the hands of 19 year-olds.

Compared to running toward machine gun and heavy artillery fire, playing hockey is not quite the challenge some make it out to be.

Hopefully he acts like a pro and that situation doesn't occur.

I still find it funny that the Hawks were not on his 16 team no-trade list. Kinda makes you wonder who was.

- Rota's Rooter

Big city, original 6 franchise, rabid fan base that fills the arena even in bad times, adding a generational player. Pretty easy to find 16 places he'd less like to go. Start with Arizona.

Then why was the average age of a WW2 soldier 26?

Because 19 year olds are too facile?
