Is there a possibility that they trade Hall to move up in the draft? Maybe Hall and a second for a third first round pick?
- bjphawkfan

I doubt it, i think they are going to keep him for Bedard. If there's any chance it would be after FA. I also have to say this still leaves plenty of money to wheel and deal or be a 3rd party to a trade. I don't think they'll trade him at this year's deadline either it'll be next year

Can T Johnson still play center. They plan on using AA as a center this year. Bedard, AA, T. Johnson, R. Johnson. Or put Kurashev at center.
- LAHawk

Don't think AA has ever played center. Looks like Bedard, Johnson, Guttman and whoever down the middle. But Johnson has trouble staying healthy too so like the majority of teams they are light at center.

Kurachev still has a chance at being a solid middle 6 guy and is still developing. Worst thing for his development is to start playing him out of position.

Have to think an UFA C is on Davidsons radar. Question is how desperate will be to "get his man" Over pay? Give him longer terms? Trade protection? Sometimes these crappier teams have to anty up more to attract a guy.

- SteveRain

Even though some posters are miffed that KD didn’t stick it to Boston I think he got a guy he wants and a guy he hopes to sign. Hall helps Bedard offensively and Foligno is a leader. Neither guy hurts the team in the short or long term. And now as you say he can look at signing a veteran UFA center.

Now I’d like to see KD look at picking up young blue chip prospects, instead of draft picks, in return for providing cap relief to other teams.

AA played the last 20 games at center, often with Reichel. KD liked him at center and the chemistry he had with Reichel. KD mentioned that when he announced the AA signing.

I have Carey Terrance in the #44 slot for the Blackahwks 4th selection.

I didn't realize he was from the Mohawk Nation at Akwesasne, which encompasses parts of New York, Ontario, and Quebec, had six points (two goals, four assists) in seven games for the United States at the 2023 IIHF Under-18 World Championship in Switzerland.

He scored the tying third-period goal for the U.S. in a 3-2 overtime win against Sweden in the championship game on April 30.

"If you ask anyone, it's kind of obvious that speed carries my game and my skating," Terrence said. "Whether I'm on the left wing or playing center, I like to play a 200-foot game. A big part of my game is taking the puck to the net off the rush. Being hard in front of the net, I scored a lot of my goals there this year. I think that's where I'm going to make my money."
Erie coach Stan Butler said Terrance is fueled by the desire to be a leader on and off the ice.

"He doesn't want to go along for the ride, he wants to be the difference in the ride," Butler said

Jayson Shaugabay, who is a smaller 5'10 167lb. right centre is from Roseau, Minnesota, became the highest-scoring Warroad High School boys player this season, surpassing Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie. Shaugabay, an enrolled member of the White Earth Nation, also had 16 points (three goals, 13 assists) in 27 games with Green Bay of the USHL in 2022-23. He's committed to play for the University of Minnesota-Duluth.

So,
in the interview process, do the Hawks gauge the prospects feelings on the team name?

I do think Hall is a great option to be a linemate for Bedard to start his career but I guess there is a chance KD is playing chess, we'll see. Hall at 3 mil is attractive to a lot of teams. Off the top of my head DET, SEA, PIT, NYI, OTT, MN, EDM might be good fits today and at the TDL who knows how many fits there would be.

I guess KD could move Hall to move up in the draft and sign Compher/Domi and or make another Hall type trade as well. But as is Hall is a solid running mate for Bedard to start his career.

I was hoping for a legit NHLer to skate with Bedard and some muscle added to the roster. Foligno isn't a heavyweight but will stand up for his mates but he too can't stay healthy. Still hoping Hathaway is signed.

OK, got past me. AA seems like a million dollar arm 10 cent brain type to me. ... Love his size and speed though.

You cannot expect Boston to waive around their first rounder in 2025, or their 3rd rounders in 2023 and 2025, those are all the early picks they have.

This trade fits really well.

They gave up nothing for him....Hall can still play.

Might want to worry about who's scoring for Carolina this year, most notably come playoff time......

- SteveRain

Well, Hall will. be available at Blackhawks picking up half of their half of his salary & Cap hit.

I have to agree that never has a team gotten a game breaking talent and have such a weak surrounding cast.
This doesn't solve much but secures a bit more scoring option for Bedard.

I truly don't believe they will find any 23-25 year old players that the rest of teams are quitting on, unless they are truly futureless.

I’ve posted this before. My daughter used to work as a teacher in a fly in Native (Cree) Community on the West Coast of James Bay in a town called Kashechewan. The town had a hockey and baseball league the the team logo of all the teams is the Blackhawk logo on different coloured sweaters. Before she worked there my daughter thought the logo was disrespectful but the Natives believed the logo was a respectful and proud representation. No idea if most Natives across North America feel the same but that community had no issues with it.

For those saying that they didn’t get enough for the Bruins cap relief, well they actually did. Hall can play with Bedard this year and then get moved at 2025 TDL for a young asset or a decent pick if need be. Now sign a FA center to a 3 year deal and make sure at least two of the kiddos play full time on defense.

I wonder if teams that miss out on PLD (or another top 6 forward they were hoping for) call KD about Taylor Hall. If Hawks retain 1/2 salary for two years in a package with a 2nd and/or 3rd the return might be pretty good.

Before the deal was done I imagine KD had Boston’s permission to talk with Foligno’s agent about a new contract.

Honestly was NOT joking and more than curious what the kids thought and if the hawks would think asking respectfully might be possible...

Hate losing Mitchell.

Good thing Hayden isn't here, or Foligno might be uncomfortable in the locker room

- I Am The Breadman

We got the Foligno's mixed up here maybe. Think it was Marcus he dropped. I was at that game. Pretty exciting. I thought Hayden would be more than he amounted to be.

Why are people so hell bent on immediately trading Hall? Don't the Hawks need to 1) Ice a team, and 2) have some actual NHL forwards to play with the kids?

Hall and Foligno are precisely the kind of players I would think the Hawks wand to sign. Good solid vets that have been around and know about playing 200'.

Can someone explain what it means to trade UFA rights? I'm guessing all it means is exclusive negotiating rights till July 1st and then nothing right?

I really hope KD finds someone skilled at playing in front of the net on the power play.

Hall, Bedard, Reichel, S. Jones, and ______ might be fun to watch.

Because Hall has averaged only 40 games per year for the last 7 years.

Doesn't make Sense , the hawks could have refused to sign this guys , You take on Hall and his Contract and no prospect or draft pick . Why not just pay the salary of one of the bruins players
- Ging72

Yet we think he has enough value to get us into the first round. My head hurts.

Props for the 2024 mock draft. I predict next year the Hawks will have the 5th worst record, but move up to 2 in the lottery.

I mean, Hall will be good for Bedard, just surprised the Hawks didn't make Boston pay to dump him.
- BINGO!

Boston doesn't have anything to pay with in reality. They got him for answering the phone. Sure it would have been nice to extract a 2026 pick but the Hawks can use Hall for that if need be.
