I'm not upset that Fox didn't win --- I'm upset that Karlsson did.

A guy who is a TERRIBLE defender, doesn't even kill penalties just won the trophy as the NHL's Best Defenseman! SMH

I said this at some point a month ago or so. Its absolutely ridiculous that someone winning best defenseman has some of the worst defensive metrics in the NHL.

This trophy needs to be split into an offensive and defensive trophy. Guys who arent necessarily point producers but are phenomenal defenseman should be rewarded too.

Fox got a good number of first place votes. So there definitely are voters who considered it.

But I always figured if Karlsson got to the 100 point mark he would win it.

Certainly a factor, along with who else was on the ice with him, but not the sole explanation for his defensive shortcomings if you will. Once Karlsson hit 100 points it was a fait accompli he was getting the award. Advanced metrics could only influence voters so much.

I just can’t get behind giving the best defenseman award to a guy who can’t play defense. If it went to makar, morrissey, dahlin, etc I would’ve thought it made more sense. Still woulda felt like it was fox’s but it would’ve made more sense

They need two awards for D. Like the Selke for forwards, have one for the best “defensive” defenseman, and the Norris. A guy could win both if he’s that good of a player. Call it the Chara Trophy

Karlsson had 100 pts, what other award could he win? He deserves something for the year he had. I can’t get all upset by this like some of you can lol
