I think it is that, and last year in combination with figuring out what vets go where in the line up and then they kinda plugged him into one of the remaining spots.
They need to say (frank) it, put the kids int he roles they want them to play in the NHL and then fill the remaining holes with whatever vets they have.
Subtle difference, but that is my thoughts anyways. - Mashadar
it's fine if he isn't always getting top 6 minutes, but you have to give him some decent opportunities throughout the season for sure, playing with better players usually brings good things.

he just turned 19, let's give the kid a break. He came over from Europe to the smaller ice rink, tons of adjustments for him last year...and he got injured on Jan 15th.
He will be fine...they will continue working on his development. Hughes said it last year at the draft, Slaf will require a few years to adjust and develop into a solid NHL player. |

exactly, no problem in having him play on the 3rd line (so againts weaker defensive pairings) with PP minutes. patience! |

I agree with all of this, I'm not saying "give him a spot in the top 6 right now" but I wouldn't necessarily keep him locked on a 3rd line either. giving him a chance to shine here and there could also be very helpful for his development. |

Slaf will be great next season.
He'll both get powerplay time and a spot on the top 6 sooner than later.

If we can get a 20/20 40 points from Slaf this year, I will be happy.

I expect 25-60 from him. Big guy will find his stride and be healthy. 20-20 would be "meh." Maybe I have higher expectations...though looking at other Gorton top-10 picks, maybe you guys are right. |

Yeah hopefully Dvorak is gone, maybe with some salary retained. Hoffman can be burried in the AHL (hope they do). Heineman is the dark horse as his development has been a pleasant surprise so far. - Habsody
well, it was said in that trade they really wanted him... |

maybe throughout his whole career that would be "meh", but considering he's barely played in the NHL, that would be more than okay for next year.

Well, I think it makes sense for Monahan to be on Dach's line.
The real question, in my mind is who lines up with CC/Suzuki and SM/Dach. And where does Slaf fit into all of this? - Mashadar

Yes. I expect him to play with Suzuki and Cole and get 25-60. Putting some cash on it. |
