I am glad the Habs did not make a trade like that for PLD, but I am not 100% convinced he is not worth those assets to the Kings. From a Habs perspective, it would not make sense. From a Kings perspective, they are getting over the hump and ready to compete now..

This is the kind of trade the Habs should be making in 3-4-5 years to fill out that one obvious weakness on the team, with hopefully an abundance of young NHL talent to spare.

They are not there yet.

Yeah, been a lot of thoughts around who will be picked at #2... maybe they are just trying to create noise to see if someone will offer them a stupid amount of assets for the pick.

I have heard both Smith and Carlsson at #2 in the recent days. Also heard that the Blue Jackets like like Smith over Carlsson.

Iafallo has more potential than Dvorak. Mesar/Kupari are a wash I agree.

Vilardi is more proven but I think Dach has a higher ceiling. Bottom line, Habs needed to give up a cost controlled Dach for Dubois and didn't want to do that.

Iafallo had a good shortened season last year. Without injuries, he would have surpassed these numbers or Dvorak's 38 points career high.

Bottom line, both aren't great.
