I mean, I don't know a whole lot about these guys, but after constantly hearing how deep this draft is I'd find it surprising if they traded down.
- Pat1993

if you did you would want them to take leonard. tough, physical, skilled, high IQ and an overall pain in the ass for the other team to deal with.

he did all the heavy lifting on the line with smith and perreault and scored 51 goals himself.

don't be fooled by his size. he is an edgy mofo.

yeah, I'm not really the kind of fan to whine if the player they're drafting isn't 6'2, at that rank they need to go for the best player available.

More of a "known" asset vs an unknown prospect.

Hughes was his agent, too at one point. Or part of the same agency. So he knows what he got.

- Mashadar

Yes, but there's interesting potential in Newhook. It could be a sneaky good trade by Hughes.

Not really.
- Gramps28

Sure. If Newhook becomes a good 3c and picks 31 and 37 never make the NHL that's a really good trade.

I agree with this, but I wouldn't say it necessarily "speeds up" the rebuilding process, Newhook is more of a compliment player than one you build around.

yeah, apparently he's one of the best in the business. habs are one of the richest organizations in the league, they need to be able to offer the best to their players.

i know you aren't pat. he is listed at 5'11 and 180 so i was trying to head off the " he is short" crowd.

you were saying it speeds up the rebuild. that is what i meant in my reply. nothing about whether it was a good or bad trade.
