If we’re gonna be stupid, and run Helle and Scheif to the deadline, the simple option is to sell Pionk for whatever picks and replace him with Heinola. Then waive Capo, and keep Chisholm up as the 7. |

AJF is not a NHLer, anything more than our 15th forward is a problem
Agree on the glut on D
Pionk regressed last year but I think our only hope is a bounce back year. His $5.9 just isn’t tradeable with 2 years on it
Jets D is the Achilles unfortunately |

So the Bruins who had one of the best seasons in NHL history are looking like quite a different club. Krejci and Bergeron likely will retire or sign elsewhere. Bertuzzi signed with the Leafs. The Bruins badly need a top NHL center. Queue Mark Scheifele or Elias Lindholm as the best two potentially available centers. Not sure who the Bruins would give up . Swayman is a name if Helle is traded.
As for Helle. The Sabres make the most sense as they are badly in need of a really good goalie to back up a talented young team. My solution ( which would never happen of course) is to trade both Scheif ( roots just north of Buffalo) and Helle to the Sabres . It takes talent to get talent so if Buffalo were to ask for sign and trades then the guy I would want coming back to be fair is Tage Thompson and his long-term contract....and Savoie to get the deal done. Does anyone think the Sabres would go for that ?
In the end, the Sabres would get two fantastic players with long-term contracts and the Jets would get a younger potential superstar in TT , plus Savoie. |

Thompson for Hellybuck?
I don’t know if you’d get him for Scheifele and Hellybuck |

Don’t think Buffalo does Thompson for both straight up. Maybe Cozens and one of their young goalies? |

6 1 Gwanke made a good decision career wise to leave after 4 years and not even one game with the big club. 6 4 Kovacevic must be happy to be out of the log jam as well with a full time roster spot in Mtrl.
Makes me wonder what will happen with Chisholm..... as Jets managing D assets seems challenging. Do we bet coffee now that Chisholm will end up be a waiver victim? (or waiver winner depending on whose angle you look at it from)
Got a log jam with 6-7 with Schmidt, Dillion, Pionk, Capo, Stanley
Oh and the Jets just signed AJF to 2 years..... lol Looks like they are bringing back the bottom 6 - Old Flopper
What, you're knocking AJF? Those are almost fighting words as one of my unsung heroes. Love the guy with so much energy that makes things happen. Oh, I know he will be the 12-15th fwd, but that's ok.
Didn't see Gawanke with the Moose but I believe he played one exhibition game didn't he? Saw him some place and he looked like a fish out of water. I want to know what Capobianco's role is going to be on team? Waiver wire fodder?
Need to see Chisholm live one NHL game before I wager "a beverage of our choice." lol Hope he gets a shot though!

sorry, no chance at all!! i dont see Buf interested in Shief. a realistic expectation on a helle return would be Mittlestadt or Krebs, UPL (they NOT trading Levi) and a prospect like Ohlund

I concur. They aren't trading Thompson.
I could see Krebs and UPL.

Yea, agree. What I would ask for a Helle and say, Heinola/Syanley, return is: Mittlestadt/Krebs, UPL and Jiri Kulich. Plus additional 1st rd pick if Helle resigns (which I doubt). |

Congratulations to Dylan Samberg. Samberg signed a 2 year deal today. He’s the first 2nd round pick in 12 years of drafting to secure a position on the Jets. Drafting and development in action. |

I actually think the following trade could work with Buffalo:
To BUF: Connor Hellebyuck
To WPG: Eric Comrie 13th OA pick
Jets could then sign Broissant as Comrie’s back-up. - TheUltimateJet
Wanted to just point out that I called the Jets signing Broissant…… |

Can't do conditions on a player re-signing anymore.
Krebs would be good to get from the Sabres, Kulich too if possible,.don't care about UPL but maybe he's a project.
The return for Helle isn't going to be as good as many fans think it should be, there just isn't going to be many teams interested in him.
Don't think the Jets should be just throwing in Heinola to a trade, Stanley or Harkins sure but not Heinola, even if he's somewhat blocked he's worth more to the Jets then just being added to a trade.
Chevy REALLY needed to call up Florida to try to offload a dman to them. |

Not sure what you mean by "can't do conditions on a player re-signing anymore." Did they change the rules and I missed it?
You say the return for Helle isn't going to be as good as many fans think. If so, that's why you add in a "kicker" so that the other team has something to show for their trade if Helle doesn't re-sign. The kicker may be Heinola, Chisholm, Stanley, etc - but we have too many D at the present time, so sacrifice one of them. Which one, not sure.
The return for PLD turned out pretty darned good, didn't it? Maybe more than some local fans predicted? Might Helle be the same when some team comes knocking? |

If Chevy has not already gone on his summer hiatus, perhaps he should take a look at Filip Zadina. He would be a true reclamation project. This is something the Jets should be looking at doing more often. |

It changed when the season was shortened due to the virus, they had to agree to a new CBA and one of the changes in the CBA was that there could no longer be conditions on a player re-signing when traded.
Sure I'm just saying I don't think Heinola should be that kicker. If anything he should be a piece in a trade to get the Jets something they really need.
It was an okay return for PLD but it isn't a homerun, if Vilardi sticks around and Kupari reaches his potential (and sticks around) it could turn into a homerun though, time will tell with this trade.
When I look at the goaltending situations of teams across the league and factor in the teams with better goalies then Hellebuyck, the teams that are committed to the goaltending they have and the teams that are rebuilding therefore wouldn't have interest in Helle it greatly reduces the market for him which in turn would likely reduce the return for him. To me it comes down to NJ, Buffalo and eventually LA cause the Kings goalie tandem is just terrible, what is with so many GMs thinking Cam Talbot is their answer in goal??
I like the thought of the Sabres cause they have a really deep prospect pool and haven't made the playoffs in a decade so maybe they'd cough up something good, the Kings too cause they have some other young pieces the Jets could use. I don't like NJ cause they only really have Holtz that they might part with, they aren't trading Nemec and probably not trading Schmit either, also their GM has done well and I worry that he'd take Chevy to the cleaners.. lol 😆 |

I don't think the market is good for Helle right now because contending teams dont have the cap space. It would require taking back a contract to create cap space for the team getting Helle and that usually doesn't make much sense for one of the teams. More likely Helle will get traded during the season closer to the deadline when teams have a little more cap space with clarity on next years cap, and also more clarity on whether thier existing goaltender is getting it done. Teams will want some term with Helle and not a rental.
I am more convinced that Scheiffle will be with the Jets until the deadline, maybe beyond that.
I like the Broissoit pickup, familiar with Winnipeg and still with something to prove.

The fact that Vegas won with a 3rd, 4th or maybe even a 5th depth goalie also proves that the 9 mill goalie is not the magic pill for a cup. This must also play some factor in the current goalie mkt. |

Funny how everyone already forgets that Bobrovski, making 10mil a year carried the entire Florida team on his back and was without question the number one 1 reason they made it to the final. |

every year about 25 of these guys come available and fans all want their teams to take a flyer. NHL teams only have so many contracts to give out and the Jets are close to their max plus nothing against Zadina but thus far he looks like a slightly younger Appleton. |

Wasn't aware that they changed the CBA during the pandemic. Wonder if they'll change it back? Possibly getting a draft pick back on a re-sign made a lot of sense to me. But so it goes!

sure, first find a taker for Harkins, Appleton, Scmidt and Stanley then I'd be happy to offer one of our 50 contracts to another middle 6 forward that are a dime a dozen |

also, he's only ever been a 4th liner, not saying he can not be a middle 6 guy, but he hasn't even achieved that yet while playing on a bottom feeder team in Detroit. |

I would rather gamble on guys like Svechnikov and Zadina than Manalainen and AJF. Svech and Zadina were at least highly touted prospects. I think the common narrative by others is that no superstar wants to play in Winnipeg and as such this franchise should be taking shots on guys that at least had superstar potential as opposed to guys that never had it! |
