Christian Fischer could be a nice add for the bottom-6... 26yo, 6'2/215, former 2nd round pick in 2015, natural RH shot, had 13G/14A in 80G, was 3rd among ARI forwards in hits with 126, and played just under 15min/GP including 2min/GP on the PK. Seems like a pretty good value player, especially if they find themselves with limited cap space to fill out the checking lines.
They should have Chychrun give him a call. |

Brannstrom extended. I know people have mixed feelings on him, but he'll now fit in on the bottom pairing / second PP fairly well with the guys ahead of hm.
I think some even felt he was looking a lot better last season, but the fact it is just a one year deal means he didn't have much leverage. |

Yes. Sens should want to improve their depth. Would rather the Sens add 3 quality depth players at $3m each than DeBrincat at $9m. |

Dorion's inability to trade cat at or before the draft is going to really hamstring him today as he has to save at least 9M for Cat |

Crap, Stolarz signed in FLA. He was a cheap target I liked for the Sens. Makes me wonder about Knight...is he coming back anytime soon or are they dealing him?
Just strange FLA has $15 million tied up in goalies and are so tight to the cap l. |

Sorry....going to be goalie centric today...
......but Quick to Rangers makes no sense. They need someone to play 30 to 35 games so Shattsy doesn't get burnt out and is fresh for playoffs. And that ain't Quick.
Mackenzie Blackwood not qualified by SJ. More weirdness.....why would u trade for a guy and then allow him to become a FA?
EDIT : Blackwood signed a two year deal with SJ. |

seems Dorion is pushing harder to trade Cat and that one or two new teams have entered the talks |

I like the signing of Korpisalo. Cost us nothing except cap space. At 5 years .... phew. A bit long term for my liking but $4 million is acceptable IMO. |

He's had good years and bad ones. He's only 29 so 6 years younger than Talbot, but a little reminiscent of that move of grabbing an inconsistent goalie.
Although most of his time has been with not great Blue Jacket teams, so on paper the team in front of him should be better. |

Not sure how I feel. There’s some risk as he’s never played over 40 games and has been up and down every year. He does have playoff pedigree but also injury history.
Too much term especially considering what Anderson signed with canes |

I like the Korpo signing. Maybe a year too long in the term but the aav was right about what everyone was saying.
But, to be clear, this is PD trying to save his job and trying to get it right this time.
Watch the Ullmark/Helly talk to LAK ramp up now. Because Cam Talbot is not the answer, to any question. |

Personally i like Korpisalo a hell of a lot more than Murray or Campbell. Murray was a mistake from the moment the Sens traded for him. Campbell was a career backup who played well one year behind a good team. Korpisalo has been a decent starter for a garbage team for a long time.
Not sure i would have went that many years but it likely was the cost to outbid another team for him. |

Would you be happy with any goalie signing? .... that is reasonable (ie. Helleybuyck is not coming to Ottawa). |

I'd always assumed the DeBrinicat trade would invovle a goalie. Now, I'm a little more curious to see what happens. |

I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. He was arguably the 2nd best (outside of jarry) ufa goalie available. I prefer him over all the other ufa goalies…it’s just his injury history and amount of games played a season is a bit of a concern. |

Let's also face facts. Ottawa is not a prime destination for free agents or trades (players with NTC's). So 5 years at $4 million is probably a built in "Going to Ottawa" Premium. |

If Korpisalo plays to his ability this signing will be a steal in as little as a year's time. With cap going up significantly, a capable tandem under 7M will be a luxury in short order. Pretty comparable deal to what Andersen got, buts more years of security. |

Dorion better start looking at depth - still not much movement on the bottom 6, which needs a facelift. Wish we'd gotten Sprong. |
