Oh I agree there. But c'mon. You got 100pt players, you got size and positionsl needs on the board. We take the 3/4th round guy? Thats a pretty off the board move there.
Its a wait and see but - Roadrunner75
He was shown as a late first rounder in the majority of mock drafts I’ve read. |

Yup. Hope he proves me wrong from here on out but initial impressions are not good for me. Just a gut shot, don't have a ton to base it on... But I hate that pick, I hate the Kampf contract. I see a guy trying to do what Dubas did just doing worse at it.
Good thing I don't know poop about (frank) so it doesn't matter. - joel878
Im kinda meh in it all BUT not sure Tree really called the pick there at all. It's really been meh on Kampf and then the off the board pick. Im just gonna wait and see how the team shapes up but so far not really been anything thats thrilling so far. |

I'm starting to understand the mentality of the New York Jets fans. Every year they go to the draft and get disappointed. They're also a team that never goes far. Starting to feel that we're seeing the unwinding of this team. So far Treliving hasn't done squat. He has 48 hours to rectify this. |

It does feel a lot like Treliving inherited the Dubas playbook so far except he might be worse at executing it... - joel878
All picks are scouting team picks. He’s been in job for a few weeks with much more important things to worry about than some late first rounder who no matter who it is is 2-3 years away. |

If a pick isn’t top 10 expecting him to be immediate is expecting too much. - Dozzer
No one is expecting him to play next year. But we don't need another undersized winger. (frank)ing dumb. |

It looks like this underwhelming pick has taken the starch out of this thread. It looks like the summer Christmas present is actually a turd wrapped up in pretty paper with a blue bow on it. Pretty uninspiring. |

First round picks are typically based around talent not size. Not always, but mostly.
No more picks til late tomorrow anyways making talent easily the most important part of their pick tonight and they want to compete now so the size they’ll bring in will be via trade/ufa signing |

I’m in the music city visiting cousins and did go to the draft tonight … that was me with that giant groan when the pick was announced…

He's not even seen as that talented a prospect. A hard worker, projected late 2nd/early 3rd. And undersized. Just.....dumb. |

I get criticized on here for my opinions. I'm older than just about all of you on here and have seen NHL hockey back to the Original Six days. I really can see a downturn coming with this team. They don't seem to have the heart to make the big decisions and just seem to want to ride the backs of the Core 4 and take the playoff revenue every year. There needs to be an adjustment here. Marner and or Nylander need to be moved and some size and toughness needs to be injected into this lineup. I'm not talking about a 4th line pug, but a Tom Wilson type of player. I'm tired of the regular season pretty play players who vanish once the playoffs arrive. It's not enough to win one round in a generation. Either fix it or move on. My feeling is status quo with a slow bleed moving forward. The proof in the pudding is if we see Ryan O'Reilly, Luke Schenn and Noel Accari not re-signed. If they let these players go, this team is toast.

I don’t see why so butt hurt. No one here knows poop about any of these kids. You just see a list and assume it’s right. I’ll trust the guys that are actually paid to be scouts that see them play a lot rather than guys on here that think they know what they are doing. |

Hey man I get flamed constantly too for being "negative" but idgaf. I call it as I see it. If there is something worth praising, Ill do it. I've seen a lot since the Ballard years in the early 80s. My overall argument here has been that this franchise is completely wasting a golden opportunity - Auston Matthews - by surrounding him with a bunch of candyassed pussies.
