Leafs’ first round picks from the Knights:
Sittler
Kadri
Marner
Cowboy Cowan - Canada Cup
have to wonder, if the Leafs had the #1 pick do they take Cowan or Bedard?

Prior to the draft most talking heads thought there would be lots of trades
But as per usual...no movement during - Fakepartofme
I think it's legitimately a sign of smarter analytics taking hold throughout all of the organizations.
As the Law pointed out above, if you evaluate a large number of players all about the same in value (i.e., players 21 - 50 are all probably NHL players of different varieties), why would I trade 2 of those slots for 1 of yours, just so I can get a guy I might rate slightly higher because my scouts saw him have one of his good games? I imagine a lot of teams picking later had their eyes on some of the slipping guys or later rated guys - Perreault, Stramel, Musty, Bonk, Sale, Barlow and Sandin-Pellilikka (some of whom were rated much higher and slipped - like Perreault and Sandin-Pellilikka in particular) - and once they were gone were working the phones and every other GM was saying the same thing, "Yeah, we don't see anyone left we want all that badly either who's any better than the two we'll get later. Sorry."

The Montreal Canadiens went a combined 53-94-17 just to end up with Juraj Slafkovsky and David Reinbacher. Just think about it for a second. THE LAST 4 TOP 5 PICKS WEVE HAD HAVE BEEN GALCHENYUK, KOTKANIEMI, SLAFKOVSKY AND REINBACHER. WHY ARE WE SO ALLERGIC TO TALENT - GreatGigInTheSky
Last year's draft wasn't super great - although if I had the #1 I'd have been inclined to go with Cooley, I love that kid. With all due respect to our Habs friends in this forum, I feel for them because it sucks to have such a crappy year, get the #1, and it be a weaker draft. I know Scabs has faith in Slafkovsky and for his sake I hope he has a long and successful career against 30 other NHL teams, but he did have a really poor rookie season.
I had done some initial aggregation last week - taking the 15 or so different rankings that were posted on eliteprospects and the rankings from the athletic and then averaging them to look at the expected order and Reinbacher was definitely much, much lower than 5th.

ill go with Mikhail Gulyayev - senstroll
I like him - the only thing I have against him is that we've drafted his archetype twice before in Liljegren and Sandin. He's small for a defenseman and while his IQ and skating are excellent, much of the rest of his game is just good. Pronman likened him to Brannstrom which is a pretty good comparison.

10 teams in year 1-3.
Not sure why...pretty much anyone who signs more than 2 years gets one it seems - Fakepartofme
I think it would be insane for ANY player to not have a limited NTC.
As long as the Arizona Coyotes are a thing.

2019, Brady Tkachuk, Q hughes

Still a little chapped on passing on Fantilli…
However read that Carlsson has a game like Mats Sundin from longtime Swedish scouts … if that’s the case … I’ll be more than fine with the pick…
Mats the most criminally underrated of Leaf greats - |

Just to let everyone know, I let Joel permission to lick my left testicle as per his attitude. Being not quite sober now yet sober enough to work in the morning, I give you all my breathtren my utmost permission amongst my passing of out to allow loel to have the dreams of licking and cradling BOTH my balls. Just to let you know many people here are sick and tired of reading your BS posts like this & the constant claiming to be drunk. Get some help if you have a drinking problem - posting garbage on a hockey board on the internet isn't a solution.
This isn't the 8th grade and you aren't getting any cool points for drinking nor posting this type of crap or the sandy female genitalia comment that seems to be your go to.
Grow the (frank) up and while your at it if you can't contribute to the hockey conversation like an adult maybe consider that you should just STFU.

The continued lament for Dubas absolutely baffles me.
Seemed like a good, classy guy when he was here. The team had some remarkable success in the regular season buoyed by an elite (if overpaid) Core 4 of which he was responsible for only 1 of them (Snake) and a very dismal, disappointing post-season record to go along with it.
Some good moves (Campbell, Muzzin), some bad moves (Kadri, Marchment), some good luck, and some bad luck.

Yeah that's my feeling on why teams weren't moving up. They didn't want to give up picks to move up or nothing the team wanted to move back. Maybe teams offered 6th or 7th rounders.

I mean there was a reason he was unemployed for only a week and got so much money from the Penguins
He is a very good GM.
Already made one good move for then Pens. |

Trotz says he offered Askarov ++ to both SJ & MtL to move up and get a center - because he was desperate for a difference maker in the middle -
Poile says watch for a ton of trades today - yes please - |

I have zero knowledge of any of these prospects besides Bedard dancing around for gold so I could care less.
I mean they are 17-18 ffs.
Also Fantilli looked good in the wolrds for a 18 year old. |
