maybe there is a reason he went 64th overall, there was a upside with lots of risks. Reinbacher was not sliding past #6 |

Edmundson is expected to be traded today - Symba007
First time since 2007 that there was not a trade during the 1st round.

a guy who played with him last season compared him to Josi. he said the kid was totally unknown at the biggining of the year and gradually became more confident and finally run their PP. he actually matched the points Josi had at the same age with the same team.
he'll be fine. great pick. - fidopro
yea we had great sucess with that in the past...
I mean the probably a reason he was (frank)ing unknown, its cute and all they are trying to make the pick of the decade, finding the hidden gem, but NOT with a top 5 pick
I get the : calm down, they know what they are doing, maybe it will be a good pick, i'm still pissed
You dont want to take the risk on Mitchkov, I can understand, but then take Leonard !! |

I think it will be interesting today, although, I think most of the trades will be picks for picks as teams move up and down to draft the players they want.
Not sure you see any big player trades today.
Maybe some smaller tweaks.

I'd like them to get an early 2nd round pick and draft Ethan Gauthier, solid gritty player I believe the whole fan base would be pleased |

I am sure they will try but they don't have a 2nd in 2024, won't be easy without moving a prospect. They will need a pick in the first 10 picks of the 2nd round to grab him IMO |

Red Wings are a good candidate, they have 3 picks in a row at 41-42-43, but he is likely gone by then. |

well to be fair they weren't going for a hidden gem as you're saying, Reinbacher was projected to go high in the draft on most lists. it just isn't a "sexy" pick like the Michkov one would've been.
people are reacting as though it's already a flop, but perhaps time will prove us that it wasn't a bad decision after all. none of us are scouts (except for bigmacdaddy of course), so we don't know poop compared to those guys. |

100% chance Julien Brisebois picks him at 37 if he's available.

He was ranked around 5-8 by most people and considered the best defenseman in the draft. People are pissed because he is not a sexy pick like the Russian or maybe even Leonard.
Like last year, I am not gonna judge 'til we see what happens in a few years. As of now, HuGo have done things right and should at least earn the trust of people based on the work they have already done in Montreal.
Whiners gonna whine and pretend they know better than the people running the team, waiting in anger for years with an "I told you so" if it does not pan out...
Whatever.

the one thing I find frustrating is that the reactions are the same as though Trevor Timmins was behind it again. let's give them a chance for (frank)'s sake...

Every pick is a gamble, even Bedard (as highly unlikely that to happen), so people just need to calm the (frank) down and see how things develop. Glad the kid will be over in Europe for a year or two and not have to put up with this poop.

People can spin this however much they want. It’s a coping mechanism to justify it to themselves and for the organization. Have at it.
But the reality is, BPA was NOT Reinbacher. As an organization desperately starved for top line talent(Suzuki and caufield are not it), how in your right mind do you pass on Leonard or Michkov in this scenario? It was a terrible pick as far as I’m concerned. Fear for a Russian kid coming over but no problem with Mailloux and his history? Comical at best.
I hope the kid proves me wrong and I’ll happily admit it if he does in the future. But I get the feeling he ends up being a second pairing defencemen. |
