I said first year draft picks should pretty much be nhl ready. Maybe a year of development. Sometimes 2.

The point I’m making is that if a first rounder takes more than 2 years to develop, they shouldn’t be a first round pick.

I think there’s probably 32 players every draft that will make the NHL within 3 years.

- I-own_da-Northwest

That's not what you said, this is what you said...now you're trying to do an about-face.

"Any 1st round pick that needs 3 years of development is weak. The thing about 1st round picks is that they’re considered to be NHL ready or a year off."

Dhaliwal said something today that might explain why, apparently Michkov made it pretty clear to Arizona that he didn’t want to be drafted by them.
- we_are_all_canucks

That does make sense. If they picked him he might have just never come over to NA

Best D-man of the draft. This is who the Canucks definitely wanted but had to settle on Wallinder.
- I-own_da-Northwest

I think Van takes Dvorsky instead if he made it to 11

Tough to say, I know they took Simashev out to dinner.

Yes and you proceeded to list off a list of the who’s who of NHL busts to prove my point. Thank you

I proved how wrong you are, kids drafted in the first round are typically NOT NHL ready and need more than one year of development. But you keep telling yourself you are right.

Did you know the Mexican population is around 133 million, damn that's a lot of people!! 22.2 million people live in Mexico City.

Okay grandpa

So Joulevi, White, Schroeder, Hodgson, Jensen, Virtanen, Gaunce can’t be declared busts yet? They might still be developing?

You're proving how wrong your assessment was, all first round picks who weren't "typically NHL ready or a year off".....thank you!

I leave Oct 24th for 6 months starting in Mexico city visiting Teotihuacan and other sites in the area. Then Guanajuato which is a funky place. Wouldn't be good for you they'd eat you alive.

I think I'd love to visit Mexico City, looks very metropolitan and modern. Not like the towns out in the sticks you like to frequent.

Darren Dreger…

“The Winnipeg Jets are processing Blake Wheelers buyout. He will be on waivers today. There will be a number of teams with interest in signing the veteran as a free agent, including the Dallas Stars.”

Oh yea no totally you’re right. The game hasn’t changed in 15 years…

You proved my point. Anyone on that list that you mentioned that took more than 2 years ended up being a complete (frank)ing dud. Anyone on your list that took more than 2 years ended up being career 3rd pairing or bottom 6 guys.
Is that what you think first round picks should be???

I honestly think we should shoot for top 4D or top 6 forwards with our first rd picks.

- I-own_da-Northwest

How is Ryan Ellis a dud? Or Chris Kreider? Gardiner was a legit top 4 for several years. Your logic is flawed. Usually a top 3 pick is NHL ready now, 4-10 are 1 year of development (sometimes longer if a team reaches) after pick 10 you are looking at 2-3 years for sub 20 and after 20 it isn't uncommon for 3+.

Any 1st round pick that needs 3 years of development is weak. The thing about 1st round picks is that they’re considered to be NHL ready or a year off.

Occasionally a team throws in that second year of development, but usually they at least try their first rounders in a handful of games.

- I-own_da-Northwest

Yikes. You might want to get out from under that rock you live and listen to NHL execs, scouting directors, public scouts. They tell you otherwise every single year. 😄

Is Tage Thompson a bust? Kriedrr? Erickson Ek?. Enough examples? Most dmen take at least two years, many take more. You're incorrect on this one.

Gaunojauto is the beesknees! I like San Cristobal just a wee bit more, still a good choice though!

Still a good run buddy. The Wop is right. Not many young players get to accomplish what you did. Respect.

2020 NHL draft just finished their 3rd year of development. Only 10 players have played a full season and 19 players have even played a half season.

2019 draft. After 4 years. 21 players have played a full 82 games in the NHL.

You mentioned Colton Tuebert and his 4 years of development and 24 career NHL games I think that’s what you define success as at the NHL level.

I’m pretty sure we could do that with 4th rd picks instead

- I-own_da-Northwest

Watched a young stars game against Edmonton with a buddy and our sons. Edmonton was killing us and my young son (4 or 5 at the time) starts to tear up as they rack up the score. Suddenly a fight breaks out between Teubert and the Canuck’s Polasek. They start tossing them and Polasek connects clean flush on Teubert’s nose and you could here the crack of his nose breaking from the whole lower section where we were sitting. The whole crowd let out this hushing ohhhh! as the blood starting gushing from his nose. My son stands up yells yeahhhhhh! I was almost embarrassed but it was too funny 😂 kinda reminds me of this kid.
