Duchene could be a decent option, he scored over 40 goals 2 years ago.
If not, Van should be looking at trades, not free agents. - NorthNuck
The trade options are getting limited and the free agent options aren't pretty. Let's just go internal. đ |

Just looking at the 4th round and beyond to see if it was only the Canucks taking overage players, turns out it's quite common. These teams took overage players in rounds four, five and six.
4 - Vancouver, Montreal, Nashville and Carolina.
5 - Anaheim, Chicago, San Jose, Montreal, Detroit, Carolina, Nashville, NYI, NYR, Winnipeg, Minnesota, Toronto and Dallas.
6 - Arizona, Chicago, Nashville, Colorado, Boston and Carolina. - LeftCoaster
Tampa takes overagers very frequentlyâŚguess not this year |

Ballard - Hamhuis and Booth would be better options - Brooks_Light

Soucy is a decent fit - but the contract - gonna end up like a slightly dumb down version of Myers
Cole is pointless - too old - donât see how we couldnât fill the role from within, cheaper, equally as good, cost control. |

I can see signing both. - VANTEL
Hope not - that would just be making the exact same mistakes they do every FA
Also Kerfoot is possibly the worst fit for us, 3C available - I bet if u give Dries the same minutes theyâd end up with similar numbers or better - at a fraction the price and shorter term |

I could see Duchene in a canucks jersey. Pretty sure he won't be recapturing 40 goal season, but at 32 ... a couple years maybe even as a winger. |

I can see Cole as a 1.2 mil signing for two years. I would not go higher than two years or 1.5.
They did just sign Juulsen so who knows what is next. I definitely think Soucy is the main target.
I want nothing to do with Kerfoot and could see Canucks going for Duchene. |

Cole was solid on Tampa last year. No way he canât help this pathetic d core. Soucy should less than $4MM. He will be overpaid but the term and cost will be far less than Myers |

They need a couple veteran stop gaps. As long as cole is one or 2 years thatâs fine |

Soucy and Duchene contracts would take up every last penny of our cap - and weâre right back in the same position - but I do believe it makes us a better team. The term on both those contracts feels like min 4 years.
Again, regardless of the contract, Cole is pointless - I think we have internal candidates that accomplish the same goal but are cheaper younger and potentially better
Cole is basically Jordie Benn 2.0 |

I have a feeling Myers is going to be gone very soon, maybe even right after bonus is paid.
I see Soucy 3x3.2 and Duchene 2 x 3

Makes a lot of sense. Retain the rights while saving contracts for NCAA free agents of which they seem to have hit on a few. |

Most teams do and Canucks have from time to time but normally D, not sub 6' and top of their league.
Ty Mueller was a free agent this Saturday. Otherwise fine, he is playing well at the college level.
Perkins is 40th in PPG as a draft plus 1 and less than a PPG. If that was a CHL kid he wouldn't be thought about. It's Nielsen and Wouters territory. Undrafted who still don't have NHL contracts. |
