I have seen both projected at around $5.5m.

I think ROR should be cheaper than that, but I think Bertuzzi is probably in that range - maybe even $6.5m as a UFA in stupid season. Whatever Bertuzzi gets, Bunting should be right in that same ballpark for what it's worth.

Yeah, I understood that - my comment was that while Chicago could or is willing to offer 4x as much, once July 1 hits and Perry starts fielding offers from cup contenders, maybe that $4m from Chicago isn't as appealing - or maybe he doesn't care about going to Chicago so his agent doesn't even bother talking to Davidson about a contract.

This way they get in front of all of it and offer him something that's hard to say no to right now. He could always have waited 3 more days and just seen what else there was, but right now he has visions of Lamborghini's sinking to the bottom of Lake Michigan dancing in his head.

Treliving isn't doing a great job as of yet. A slight overpay for Kampf, a player they could have traded down in the first round and nobody re-signed as UFA/RFA's so far. He needs to get out of the Honky Tonks and get to work. Not happy with their results so far. Looks like the same old, same old.

Kampf contract; too much and too long for what should be a league minimum role. If they end up not signing Acciari and he goes for close to this amount, it'll be a big fail. Acciari is better at this price than Kampf.

Holmberg contract; not bad, better price but not that great of a player either.

Still hasn't moved Murray or acquired a legit, proven top end goalie.

Dubas handed Matthews and marner huge contracts when they didnt deserve it. Marner should have gotten 8.5m per max and Matthews 9.5 max. Dubas foolishly handing them more than10m per has hindered the team since the contracts were signed. Hell, 4-5 years later tkafack had 100pts and still signed for less than what those two signed all those years ago.
Now willie is going to want to get paid soemthing comparable and why not?
As result, the leafs aren't going to be able to pay him so he'll probably get traded. Unless Am signs for only 11m per....which we know isnt happening.

It boils down to this. A player and his agent care about what the take home is under full taxation. Which is very justifiable. For Marner it means it’s only about $5 million. Of course he’ll bank it in ways to lower taxation and help save himself money but he’s not going to give the savings to the team. That would be like one of us willing to work for less because we intend to do something like that.
