Yeah I would rather pay him 1.25m than some scrub 800K on the 4th line.

He has a clear role.

Plus I think players just love having him around, which is valuable.

I think the Leafs can always offer term for these old guys because they can afford to pay them and not play them if they want.

Agreed. He seems like a really good dude. I'd do that deal.

They're lucky half their games start in the early afternoon. Since they're gonna run 4 hours deep.

But the other half are late games. Gonna be playing into the wee hours of the morning. Well part Bedard's bed time.

he’ll be made to have afternoon naps routinely because they won’t need him at practice since he’s already got the skill lol

I agree but sitting on the issue might mean they pass on some things tomorrow (UFA) which could limit their options down the line.

Filling any hole might be easiest tomorrow.

I'm sure that won't drive or rush their decision but it's got to be a consideration.

If they know they won’t get to a number they can live with and they have something they like lined up, then yeah pull the finger, I mean trigger. But IMO those are pretty big ifs. Both sides face some degree of pressure in these negotiations. Nylander has said he’d prefer to stay and I bet there are a few teams that he’d like to avoid that won’t be covered by his 10 team list.

Ugh.
Alan Arkin was such a great actor and guy by all accounts
RIP

A life well lived for sure … so underrated - a self deprecating humor and subtleness as an actor-

Guys like Lebrun keep saying they don't see July 1 as a deadline...but then say Treliving needs to know about Nylander to make more moves.

I think Trelliving makes a decision on Willy by tomorrow, he may not sign but I think he will either go ahead making moves as 9-10M Willy starting next year or will plan to trade him.

Hearing Jesper Fast will return to the Carolina Hurricanes. Good player, good fit there.

Oh, for sure. Maybe $1.25M-ish.

I certainly don't want to get into a bidding war. I just want the heavy weight champ.

- GreatGigInTheSky

Reeves & Lucic in the same division.. yeah that works-

See Lucia’s dismantling of McDouche in Colorado last yr as proof he’s still got something something left -

Ifs are all we have ...but I agree.

I'd suspect if it's not going to work in T.O. then you get the agent to give a list of teams he'd talk extension with to maximize any return.

My current hope for what we get plus what we already got-

Knies - Matthews - Bill Ny
Robertson - JT - Marner
Jarnkrok - ROR - Brown
Holmberg - Kampf - Reaves

Rielly - Schenn
McCabe - Liljegren
Brodie - Timmins
Gio

Samsonov & Woll

But Nylander could be gone as early as the end of the day. Maybe Timmins with him.

And I have no problem in trading Lafferty.

Same bring back brown cow! I'll take Reeves at up to 1.5M too but if I had to pick and could only have one of these 2 I want Brown back.

Duchene is a winger these days, but would be an interesting addition.

I'd probably have to agree. Even though I've wanted Reaves for a long ass time.

He has a cottage near my buddies.

He can commute 3 hours each day to practices and games. Maybe he can baby sit Knies too.
