im confused of why the Hawks got Perry. I cant imagine he would sign with them. Inst he trying to win now? - Archaic
Hawks are looking for good veterans to surround Bedard with.
Perry fits that bill but I don't know if that's what he wants to do.

Why at age 38 would he want to play on an obvious non-playoff team. It makes zero sense

I don't hate that signing as much as the pencil neck Excel bros do.
Guy's out there taking all the DZ draws, PKing, etc. and could be playing in the 3C hole if we don't resign ROR. - gravyface
I thought it was a year too long and I was off in thinking he'd get 2. Someone said open market would be 3ish. But I mean, could be worse so meh. No reason to complain.
To be fair to the leafs, they solidified 3rd and 4th center position for 3.2 million.

Treliving: no buyouts during this window. (There’s another one later in summer) |

If he wants some ice time he will sign for the year and then look to be traded at the deadline. Wouldn't surprise me on that deal if he's looking to win. Or maybe Chicago will offer him the most dollars on a contract compared to a contender and he will just want the money.

So the team has stars and you expect them to go and get new stars/super stars every summer?
That is not how pro sports work. |

If Chicago is buying out Bailey does that mean they can no longer buy anyone out? Is there a limit to 3 like retained salary? |

Newhook hasn't been signed but it should happen sooner than later.
I'd say the casual fans are still mad we didn't draft the potential superstar forward despite all the risks involved.
Most in the Habs thread are happy we got a potential first pair RHD moving forward, adding to an already very strong prospect pool on defense for Montreal.
I had Reinbacher at #6 in my mock draft so I can't complain.

There is a limit, no clue what it is. 3 sounds about right though. Could be more.

5x5.5M is the only thing that makes sense for Newhook. He is a monster scorer at 14 goals per season.
Seriously though, I think he will be a 20 goal scorer.

I expect either a very short deal or a small gamble like they did with Dach last year.
The Dach contract already looks like a very likely bargain moving forward so maybe Newhook ends up the same way.

So legit, how is the fanbase taking this draft?
Has Newhook been signed yet? - Aaron_85
I am an oddity seeing that I actually like both teams. When it comes to reaction to the draft, the reactions are always the same for both teams There are 3 types.
A: The vast majority: They are quite quiet. They are either happy with the pick because it's who they would have chosen. Or, not very happy with the pick, but they are quite sane and figure let's see how this all play out, the scouts may know something we don't
B: Eternal optimists: A a very loud minority: This is the best player they could possibly have drafted and has the potential to be the best player player or steal of the draft
C: Eternal pessimists: A very loud minority again: This (frank)ing teams sucks. They can't do anything right. I hate this team, I hate everyone, (frank) you and everyone else and their dogs also. If they would listen to me, with all my infinite knowledge, we would win cups every year. |
